I’m hopeful – nearly confident – that Cliffs of Moher is going to come on at least a stone for his last run, it just screamed improvement. Despite the grumblings that Ballydoyle having 6 runners means they have none, the vibe from the stable seems to be pointing to a big run.
He looks excellent standing in paddock, compact and well balanced. Best of luck all it should be a cracker.
June 3, 2017 at 16:26 #1303301Eminent just went past in the Parade..very happy with the way he looks a hundred miles away from how he looked on Guineas day..Come on Emmy..
Good luck to everyone

JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 3, 2017 at 16:27 #1303302Cracksman the one for money but then all the odds are looking scandalous really. Desperate lack of value across the boards now.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 3, 2017 at 16:29 #1303303Cliffs Of Moher looks agitated. I don’t like the look of him.

June 3, 2017 at 16:30 #1303304Me neither Steve…Permian looking good,cool as a cucumber

June 3, 2017 at 16:40 #1303307What an absolute shock!
June 3, 2017 at 16:41 #1303308Shock result but the wrong one; one of the few rank outsiders that I DIDN’T back….was only looking at his breeding just before the race started as well.
June 3, 2017 at 16:41 #1303309Anyone pick that one out?
Eminent stayed all right, but just not good enough on the day.
June 3, 2017 at 16:42 #1303310We all saw it coming. Lottery.
June 3, 2017 at 16:43 #1303312Horrible result.
Great result for Ballydoyle though- that turns around their -£35 level stake big time!
for all the talk of frankel as a sire the winner won exactly like his own sire did.
for me cliffs of moher emerges as the best horse from the race- especially if they can work out how to calm him down next time.
June 3, 2017 at 16:47 #1303313You predicted the shock result though Moe..great runs from the Frankel’s and no disgrace for them.. 6 runners AOB horses dictated the blistering pace from the start..Wings Of Eagles winner of 2017 Derby..how does he do it
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 3, 2017 at 16:49 #1303314Shock horror, boilover city.
The first three rated 108 106 109
Cracksman was never travelling but came with a chance. Cliffs Of Moher didn’t quite get home I felt and Eminent just lacked the stamina as well it seemed.
Dubai Thunder was a stupid price and I did say Godolphin had nothing.
Could be one of the lowest rated winners for a while I would say. It looked a bobbins Derby all winter and judging by the result it wasn’t a great race today.
Well done anyone who saw that one coming. Bookies benefit.

I think that’s harsh.
He has absolutely flown home despite getting completely stopped on the straight twice.
Deserved winner.
Gutted with Cliffs Of Moher but thought that him coming from the back was tactical from the o Brien string
June 3, 2017 at 16:55 #1303316Fantastically exciting race. Delighted with the Frankel’s. Cliffs of Moher swept past Eminent and Cracksman but then they were coming back at him at the line. Cracksman ran in snatches showing his inexperience – he will only improve. Eminent ran a great race, didn’t come down the hill and just got squeezed again near the line. Definitely stays. Perhaps the winner won because he sat off the pace but, to be fair, he got checked a couple of times in the straight and was clearly the best horse on the day. He had been an eye-catcher at Chester, finishing best of all that day but looking like he didn’t like the track.
Should be a great rematch in Ireland!!
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
June 3, 2017 at 16:59 #1303317Have to agree with Steve here, first reaction is it’s a stinker of a race.
Last year’s was gash but I think this has taken it to a whole new level. In general the Derby is going downhill and is in danger of turning into a glorified handicap because of the emphasis the breeding world has with speed
Expect Wings of Eagles to become the first derby winner who covers for less than a grand.
June 3, 2017 at 17:00 #1303318Gosden & Meade just interviewed and both would look forward to a rematch in the Irish Derby.
I didn’t think experience would be an issue for Cracksman but several times early on he was being niggled along and turning for home I thought they were going to swamp him but he really did battle.
When COM took it up I thought he was going to go clear by a few lengths but I think he was running on empty at the end (could be a better horse over 10F) as Cracksman and Eminent were closing back in again on him – not sure whether the best horse won today as he was well off the pace of a truly run race.
Wouldn’t surprise me if we get a different result in Ireland.
Congrats to P Berry on winning the Derby on his first ever ride
