    There were rules in those days about the sort of prizes that could be offered. Even when the top prize was a car it was only something like a Ford Fiesta, it was never a Jaguar or something like that.

    If you ever see the first series of Bullseye, the format was slightly different and the contestants often won no money at all. And instead of tankards and a toy bully, the losing contestants were given some darts and a chalk holder.

    The prizes on BBC shows in that era were even worse.

    The famous star prize was the speedboat- normally won by someone in the midlands

    There was one series of Bullseye when celebrities used to do the throwing for charity round. One of them was Carol Lee Scott, aka Grotbags from “Emu’s World”. And it looked like she had been enjoying the hospitality in the green room.

    She did something for charity at a former work place of mine. When my mum worked there, I think late eighties. She was a real genuine and nice lady, according to my mum. Smashing, super great to put it in Jim Bowen words.

    You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
    Don't mess with mister in between.
