Plenty of support for Azure Mist in that race Halfwaytoheaven – shouldn´t have drifted that much mind
December 14, 2008 at 03:15 #196805Maybe we should include in this thread horses that are smashed off the boards, having been totally friendless last time out…
There was a nice qualifier tonight in Trimlestown…

Absolutely
December 14, 2008 at 19:50 #196899Not sure a move like that can be put down to first time blinkers
December 14, 2008 at 19:58 #196900Indeed, especially when the horse wasn’t wearing blinkers.
The interesting point about the horse is that it was a significant drifter last time at Lingfield (where there was no particular reason not to fancy the horse), where it missed the break and was given a pretty dreadful ride.
December 14, 2008 at 20:03 #196901the site is gonna be closed down if we keep this up haha
December 14, 2008 at 20:09 #196904Fair enough TDK – didn’t see the race only the pre-race move.
The money talked in the Metternich race too.

That’s after-timing on a before the race thread. Even your our orginal post was at 13:18.
Who’s to say the RP forecast compiler got it right for the Ludlow race. It’s only his opinion and there are plenty of other opinions flying about. The compiler of the forecast admits in the Spotlight that his last race was a weakish race. You can’t take the RP forecast as gospel otherwise the compiler is placed nuder quite unjustified pressure to get it right.

December 18, 2008 at 18:56 #197861Assuming the ‘King horse’ was Paquet Cadeau then it ended up at 7/2, so it in fact shortened in price, at least ni the latter stages of the market, rather than drifting.
I’m not particularly aiming at yourself regarding the betting forecast, rather than what seems to be a common theme in many such threads that if the SP or opening price is out of line with the forecast then there must be something amiss. I certainly wouldn’t want to be Steven Boow or one of his colleagues if all forecasts were treated that way.
as a side point regarding forecast and their compilation, it does sit rather uncomfortably that the compiler of the industry guide forecast, as many treat it, also writes the Spotlight comments which can themselves have a siginificant impact.
You mentioned Royal Keva (assumed ‘the original 2nd fav’) in the Southwell who seemed to run more or less the same race as it’s last effort. It was priced at 5/2 in the RP, but then the first two words in the Spotlight were ‘Bit disappointing’.

December 18, 2008 at 19:41 #197873Royal Keva was just obscene – name your price and stake from a few minutes before the off all the way through the race.
December 18, 2008 at 19:49 #197874The Post Forecasts are often way out with the various industry EP’s. Would hate to be using them as a guide as to how they price up X or Y, now if we were able to bet at RP Forecasts that would be a totally different matter

Glenn
Nothing particularly odd about the performance though. Out of the stalls in a prominent position, settled just off the pace, encouraged to get competitive entering the straight but just didn’t have the pace of the front two. Given every chance and not good enough, as per previous run.

December 22, 2008 at 18:57 #198658Looks like the stone in hand Fyodor will be finishing last here.
December 22, 2008 at 19:02 #198659hmmmm, should walk it but i can’t see how this is going to be run to suit him i doubt they will go fast enough
December 22, 2008 at 19:15 #198661Holy Cow! At least Dick Turpin wore a mask.
