More Tea Vicar big drift 12.00 Southwell – 3rd run for a mark
December 10, 2008 at 17:12 #195870Stuffed.
December 10, 2008 at 17:20 #195876The Betfair legal eagles have been in touch, claiming my post on Capricorn Run was seriously misleading and asking me to put the matter straight. I’m only too happy to oblige.
Capricorn Run apparently drifted in the 10 seconds pre-off as a result of a ‘badly programmed’ bot laying it at all rates up to 12s to place. Whether the bot was ‘badly programmed’ in the sense it was doing things the owner didn’t really intend or ‘badly programmed’ in the sense that it didn’t have the notion of subtlety embedded into its artificial intelligence remains unclear.
.Does seem a little strange that this "badly programmed bot" chose this particular horse to lay at all rates in the place market? What was it meant to be doing? Laying it at all rates to people with slow pictures when the race was off would be my guess…

I think we should record this information on an Excel file. We would need about 5 collums;
Trainer – Jockey – Horse – Price 5mins prior to race – SP –
Any suggestions? we might be able to find a few good trends.

Deleted for aftertiming, though betting patterns can only be considered ‘dodgy’ in light of the associated horse’s subsequent performance (the Ajara drift being a case in point).

Spic N’ Span is 11/4 from 2/1 for Southwell’s opener despite facing nothing of the calibre of North South Divide and Made of Ailsa, whom he beat comfortably last time out (when well backed and allowed to do as he pleased).
December 12, 2008 at 16:51 #196404Spic n Span is poorly drawn and has more on his plate today than he did last time I’d say.
December 12, 2008 at 16:54 #196405Agreed, DJ. Will need to extricate himself from the stands’ s side soup very quickly.
December 12, 2008 at 16:58 #196407A pleasing run in the circumstances.
December 12, 2008 at 23:52 #196513Big drifter in the next at Wolverhampton
Redhead of Richard Hannons yard has drifted to 17 from 8
December 13, 2008 at 00:18 #196516Should Redhead have been any shorter on paper? In fact looking through this thread the only horse I wasn’t still laying at the off on value grounds were Dart and Bazroy.
December 13, 2008 at 02:05 #196536The weight Redhead was carrying and taking the trainer into account would make me think thats a big price against a mediocre field.
Especially as RP said that it would put in a big run
December 13, 2008 at 20:15 #196736duke of toraine, 9s this morning, traine has 2
December 14, 2008 at 00:53 #196780Caprio for Dascombe in the next at Wolves is drifing
December 14, 2008 at 01:14 #196787Johnny G’s Metternich out from 3.5 to 12.5 in the next at Wolves.
Bit of an odd move..
