What would you have Nube Negra running to today then Robbo?
December 27, 2020 at 20:32 #1515551I just clearly stated above that I would find it very hard to make a solid conclusion about the rating of any horse in the race today. The only thing I can say with any confidence is that Altior hasn’t ran an outstanding race for at least 800 days now.
December 27, 2020 at 20:33 #1515552Some right snobs on here! It depends on how much you believe below form the second ran, and how much you believe the winner has improved. Don’t get the ridiculing of any opinion tbh.
God Ruby the mere suggestion of the KG being a trial for the bloody awful Ryanair is a truly horrendous thought

December 27, 2020 at 20:34 #1515553It’s no secret Wex that the handicappers have changed their methods over the last 10 years, even more recently so in fact. Marks are easily more inflated than previously, although if we are going to mark up a race in today’s money then that’s the ballpark Altior ran to.

Was just a question, Robbo
Although I find it odd that you can provide a rating for Altior today but not Nube Negra, who ran in the same race
December 27, 2020 at 20:38 #1515555Some right snobs on here!
Snobs, Tatling? How so? Nothing like a lively post-Christmas debate on the forum to warm the cockles.
December 27, 2020 at 21:09 #1515557I agreed with whoever posted that they thought Altior ran low to mid 150s today. I didn’t state it as fact that he ran to that level and never claimed it to be factual. Just sounded like a fair call and agreed with it as being fairly right which I think it probably was, just an opinion on a forum that’s all, no scientific basis to it though it’s fair to say that everything Altior beat today didn’t run to their best (again my personal opinion) OR don’t mean so much to me and are always open to individual interpretation imo. Even the chief handicapper makes mistakes regularly, it’s normal. All about opinions.
December 27, 2020 at 21:23 #1515558Soooo you agreed it was the right rating, but you didn’t agree it was the right rating, but you agree it was the right rating, but you didn’t agree it was the right rating, but you don’t pay attention to ratings?
Glad that’s finally cleared up
December 27, 2020 at 22:30 #1515566Bore off Tom go and play with your Xmas toys.
I never said I don’t agree with ratings merely that they aren’t always the be all and end all and are always open to interpretation and that is a very fair comment imo. Please don’t reply as I could find a better debate with my 3yo nephew than I’m getting off you.
150-155 ie nowhere near good enough to pick up an average grade 1 race.
December 27, 2020 at 22:58 #1515569I don’t really understand the negative nature of some of your replies Robbo as I thought we’d been trying to have a conversation, although clearly you don’t like to be challenged and have struggled to back up a lot of your opinions. I agree with what you say that the game is all about opinions and therefore forums and suchlike are there to voice said thoughts and exercise lively debate regarding the sport we love. It’s crucial that swords are crossed (in a friendly manner) from time to time, otherwise everywhere would become stale and full of yes men.
Having said that, I do believe that an opinion that can’t be backed up without theory, reasoning or any general foundation would just be guesswork, something that takes little thought process and next to no knowledge.
I don’t have much more to be said on the matter. I hope no grudge is bourn Robbo. Just remember, there’s 2 sides of the fence. Make sure you’re on the right one
