Just got delivery of 34 x N95s and a half mask with two big 4 inch filters that screw in on the side – plus some replacement filters and a full visor. The half mask cost £65 which is a lot cheaper than life insurance and as I travel the tube networks feel it might be a good investment. Wore it this evening on the central line. got some strange looks. I rather enjoyed it and breathing is much cleaner and clearer than through a mask. I would recommend but down to each to decide.

I’ve seen a few folk wearing your ‘hazmat’-type respirator devices. If they bring peace of mind then why not. The donning of facemasks that seemed so alien and uncomfortable just several months ago now seems like second nature. It’s surprising how quickly one adjusts to a new ritual after initial moans, mumbles and mumbo-jumbo

Your quite right I am not a mile away from a vaccine although my now non COPD status has knocked me down the ladder. I would certainly take the vaccine – my body has survived thus far poisoned to its hilt by a German hit man. Exaggerating a bit on the hit man which brings me nicely to Jones and the old M ( Bond ) I think they are both a bit amazing and yes Sean who we lost this year was too taciturn to continue and retired sensibly at 73 which seems a good age to hang up your boots.
I bought 30 masks a long while back and was down to 2 I gave some away but I must have mislaid the others.
I do feel a bit self conscious with my germ warfare attire on and I noticed a few snide chuckles fron the brave and strong yesterday. The human fly will be staying in today. As an old carer still looking after the old I can travel through tiers with some impunity and was delivering Xmas dinners on Xmas day ( Ahhh )
Drone I rather enjoyed that excursion of yours to Nathan’s patch and the telling of it. I felt I was along for the trip. I often snatch a free ride off someone quite unbenknow to them..

‘If the media switched off the hysteria and the government switched off the lockdowns and the people took their masks off we could all relax and start enjoying the “old normal” very quickly and the vast majority of people would be fine and unaffected whilst covid took its place next to other winter viruses we learned to live with. Most people would continue to know very few people who died and most people if they did catch it would not be massively affected. It’s really that simple.’

I realize that some may need to wear a mask, but the vast majority of us don’t. All this lark about the NHS will be overwhelmed, yet we have Nightingale Hospitals standing empty and some being decommissioned – maybe if there weren’t so many staff off sick and others with no symptoms having to self isolate because of the over-testing, the NHS would be in better shape instead of being 72,000 light.

The Swedish experiment worked well enough but not when you compare it with Sweden’s near neighbours – I haven’t checked the figures recently been more interested in counting mince pies. We are an island – had we acted much sooner and the ill disciplined people that live here had actually taken social distancing seriously and masks, self made or whatever, had been encouraged from the start and the psychologists had been tethered together in a padded room we possibly could have avoided any restrictions and life although at a distance could have been normal enough🚢
