I’m sure many of you who have been following Corrybrough are aware that he is running at Sandown (3.40 5F listed race) on Saturday.
Forecast to go off 11/10.
Has to be backed until beaten?

Ps,
Apologies if there is already a live thread on this – couldn’t find it.June 13, 2008 at 16:44 #168247The way he has won from behind this season has astonished me as I was worried he was beat both times before finding an electric turn of foot. Agree that he is a serious animal and Candy is so confident that he is already saying he doesn’t want to pitch him in too deep too early! Talk about confidence. Really hope he sluices home tomorrow as the sprinting division, as ever, needs a shot in the arm.
June 13, 2008 at 18:31 #168263On the contrary, aidan, I think the sprinting division is looking increasingly healthy.
June 13, 2008 at 18:35 #168266OK, Fleeting Spirit and…..???
June 13, 2008 at 19:48 #168275…Kingsgate Native, Benbaun, Sakhee’s Secret, Soldier’s Tale.
Whether they’ll be good enough to beat off the invaders from overseas next week is a different matter, though.
June 13, 2008 at 19:54 #168276Soldiers Tale is off to stud after Ascot and apparently (according to davidjohnson) Kingsgate Native has to show he’s trained on!

I know what you are saying, but I feel it does lack a real star as it has done for years.
June 13, 2008 at 20:01 #168277There looks likely to be bags of pace in this, and whilst that will suit Corrybrough, I also think that a stiff 5f off a strong pace will prove Tajdeef’s optimum, and whilst he may not have the potential of Corrybrough, I think there is more meat on the bones of his form and he strikes as a good bet at 4 times the price.
June 13, 2008 at 20:51 #168280From a value perspective and a strict form viewpoint, I suppose I agree. However, Corrybrough, albeit in lesser company, has looked an absolute machine and the way he has come late with less thana furlong to go in his races to come through and win as he has means he could be something quite special and it will be disappointing if he doesn’t win and win well tomorrow.
June 13, 2008 at 22:27 #168283Well, good luck all.
I’ve whacked Corry in a treble. Hope we all win some dosh!

June 14, 2008 at 01:21 #168290There are plenty of top class older sprinters around at the moment, aidan, and when you also consider the potential shown by Orizaba, Danehill Destiny, Prolific, South Central, Art Connoisseur and a number of other juveniles then I’d suggest the division looks fairly healthy.
I can’t see that Corrybrough can be beaten at Sandown this afternoon, with the stiff finish likely to play right into his hands. Tajdeef will undoubtedly prove best at the minimum trip, but his attitude this season has worried me greatly (and cost me plenty) and I don’t think Martin Dwyer is well enough equipped to get any more out of him. The one horse who could give the favourite a race, though hopefully not much of one, is Philario.
June 14, 2008 at 02:24 #168294Has yet to see off a decent horse, he faces one today. VERY short price.

Good luck DJ, though I suspect today might just be the day when you wished you’d learned more about tactical speed.
June 14, 2008 at 09:59 #168310I’m with Richard Hoiles here in thinking the fav has a bit to do to overcome a potentially tricky draw- the rail was definitely favoured here yesterday and I’ve backed Inexile to cause a shock by bagging the golden highway. Corryborough will need to come wide down the middle and will need to have 2 or 3 lengths in hand to win.Don’t like Tajdeef- looks a bit iffy in a finish to me.
June 14, 2008 at 10:03 #168311I like Inxile as a horse CH, but realistically Corrybrough probably does have 3 lengths in hand of him. Given Corrybrough’s run style, I don’t think you would want him to have a "good" draw here as you could see him getting no run up the rail from a high number.
He will look like he is in trouble midrace and then come through to win imo….
June 14, 2008 at 10:08 #168312It’s all about prices TDK and I prefer the 5/1 about a place for Inexile in my each-way than taking 4/6 about the fav!
June 14, 2008 at 10:16 #168314Why should it all be about prices?
I don’t want to elaborate on my argument because I’d like to know yours – that is … yours being anyone in particular.
I tried to rate horses and then take those ratings and use the figures to frame a market, then take what is best overs – for 2 months I tried a sophisticated system which DIDN’T give me three horses who I candidly thought were certs and therefore didn’t back. And I was down a little over a thousand quid because of it.
Taking 4/6 and putting a heavy stake on him and he gets beat – well … at least some pain is taking away with the fact that you thought the horse was the one to win and on top.

5/1 a place for Inxile is excellent value – I wouldnt argue with that.
