This will be a fascinating clash if the two big guns turn up, but will they?

I’ve decided to go with First Flow at 5-1, although I do realise that it is a silly bet if either of Shishkin or Energumene run.

Energumene doesn’t need to with Chacun on the sidelines. He can go to the DRF instead. Could be just Shishkin all being well.

Shiskin may well turnup at Cheltenham without a prep ….

Ascot or Newbury for Shishkin i believe. If all is ok, i dont see him not having another run pre Cheltenham tbh.

More likely Newbury for Shishkin. Either the Game Spirit or even a racecourse gallop. If the weather remains wet, Nicky will avoid any additional risks.

My money is very much on the latter.

Henderson will have an excuse ready for Shishkin not lining up here.

The bookies have it priced up the Mullins horse more likely to turn up
Henderson has already cast doubts about both races with this one coming up too soon after the last and the Game Spirit being close enough to Cheltenham
He recently said Shishkin has been in good form at home and is a possible but we know with Shishkin its all about Henderson getting him there in the best possibly way for the horse that he can. All possibility’s are open

More certain Energumene will run than Shishkin as Willie likes the race after three wins with Un Deu Sceaux and time wise I think it would fit nicely for him as they gave him time to recover from his debut run which was quite hard given the race fit Notebook really took him on for most of the race until he was broken.

Even deep ground at Ascot would not deter him (he has won on heavy ground over both 2m and 2m4f) but I do think Hendo certainly wouldn’t want to Altior Shishkin before the Festival and he has the option of the Game Spirit (or whatever overly long daft name they have saddled it with this year), which was the usual route he used with Altior. As we know, trainers can very much be creatures of habit.

In any case if one or both of them turn up, I do think that First Flow (especially on soft ground) will present a rather stern test for them on the day.

The ground at leopardstown can get very quick so this would seem the better option for energumene

Game on it would appear, I have to say I am shocked at this but then again there is still time for things to change

He is around that or 11/10 for Cheltenham, so I would say that is probably a good shout – assuming they both turn up and run one thing is for certain is that the QM market will get a rather big shake up.

Dont be surprised if Mullins swerves it.

I tend to agree mike, the only way i can see him actually running is if he is still unsure of Energumenes level, he may still view CPS as is his #1 and this can be a good indicator of where they all are, bar that, ill be pleasantly surprised, hopefully it happens though just to make the race worthwhile!

Credit to hendo for committing shishkin.
