Am not so sure Townend was happy at any point today and many big bets must have been on. Wouldn’t back him now on the back os that fall. Given the time he’ll need, they might save him for Punchestown.
January 17, 2026 at 17:10 #1750826Gm Marine is the current 2 mile champion , GDC isn’t the current staying champion , that’s a FACT , as for the ROA awarding him chaser of the year , which would you rather have that or the Champion Chase trophy …
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 17:11 #1750827Still plenty time Steeplechasing , as long as he isn’t hurt them rest and then back into training , he’s still in the Champion mix , if he is a1 him and marine could be the race of the festival
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 17:11 #1750828”Would he have even won with Cobden on board?”
Cobdens a far better jockey than Bowen. James wasn’t even that good on Jonbon today imo.
That doesn’t mean Cobden wouldn’t have fell on him today either.
Bowen rode him, the horse won and the rest is history.
January 17, 2026 at 17:12 #1750829Great news regarding IET,
But that should confirm that jonbon goes CC, not that he has any hope of winning it, but he absolutely will not get 2m5…
And marine national isnt that good, record speaks for itself, best of a very, very poor bunch
IET would beat him (if you put a line through today)
January 17, 2026 at 17:13 #1750830Fwiw, jonbon went out to 30s in running, it was a **** race, IET just massively underperformed
January 17, 2026 at 17:14 #1750831He won , that’s all that matters , Cobden has to deliver , would have been a great start for him if he had ridden Jonbon , question i did hear asked on a podcast is while JP has some current stars has he a youngster jumping out for next year … good question
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 17:16 #1750832Ham you could put that up for GDCs 2 gold cups , at the end of the day you can only beat what’s in front of you
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 17:16 #1750833”GDC isn’t the current staying champion”
He is the current staying champion. IKTWYT won the Cheltenham Gold Cup but is hardly the champion of anything. That’s like saying Lord Windermere and Synchronised were also champions.
The Gold Cup is the Blue Riband but still only one race. You have to back it up to be a proper champion.GDC beat IKTWYT 3 times last season and would’ve beaten him at Punchestown also making that 4.
He’ll hammer him at the DRF in a couple of weeks time also.
January 17, 2026 at 17:20 #1750834”question i did hear asked on a podcast is while JP has some current stars has he a youngster jumping out for next year … good question”
Mighty Park. Brother of Might Bite
January 17, 2026 at 17:20 #1750835The current staying champion isn’t GDC , it’s the Cromwell horse , GDC also got beat last time , sorry GM facts are facts
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 17:22 #1750836Could be but I bet there’s a bit of temperament there to , has it been confirmed yet who’s riding the new lion
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 17:25 #1750837Watched the Opening Show this morning and seeing IET on arrival at the course didn’t think he looked too bright in himself.
Horses have off days like all of us so hopefully draw a line under that performance and thank God he’s ok.Well done to Jonbon he’s a lovely horse and deserved his win.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 17, 2026 at 17:48 #1750841“as for the ROA awarding him chaser of the year , which would you rather have that or the Champion Chase trophy”
I’d rather have two million pounds, which Galopin will hit under rules if he comes 2nd at Leopardstown again in a couple of weeks.
Put The Kettle On, like Marine, has two G1 Cheltenham festival wins (Arkle and QMCC) and was 4/4 at the course. Good mare, worthy G1 horse, deserved her wins. I’d rather own her than Marine Nationale cos she might breed a few decent foals.
January 17, 2026 at 17:56 #1750842Green would you rather have the Champion Chase trophy or the the ROA chaser of the year award … It’s a straight forward question
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 18:14 #1750845He’s ROA Chaser of the year and HRI horse of the year which includes flat horses.
He got that by winning the Savills, Irish Gold Cup and Punchestown Gold Cup in addition to placing in the John Durkan and Cheltenham Gold Cup
Those 3 G1 wins and 2 places pulled in £570,000Marine Nationale won the Queen Mother and Punchestown Champion Chase
Those 2 wins plus 3 places pulled him in £447000So Galopin still pulled in 120000 more in a season where he was slightly passed his very best.
I’d rather win a Queen Mother than an Irish Gold Cup but Galopin was still the deserved Champion Chaser over both Marine Nationale and Iknowthewayurthinkin. The latter has been nothing but a flash in the pan so far. A good Gold Cup winner but the champion of nothing. Until he backs it up, he’s nothing but another Lord Windermere to me.
January 17, 2026 at 18:22 #1750848If your knocking the GC winner then your knocking GDC , he could beat him in the GC … The fact my straight forward question isn’t being answered says it all , GDC has been a great horse however he failed to win the GC last year , Marine won the Champion , the word champion is the key here , I’ll leave it there , couple of months we’ll have the answers again …and a few more questions
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
