“Remember Barry Connell saying Jonbon’s not a proper G1 horse.”
Yes I saw that, on the Final Furlong podcast. Said he was “not much good” I think, and not a real G1 horse. Fine for Barry to big up his own horse but that was spiteful and unnecessary. Loads of chippiness about “The English” too. After seeing that I thought, I hope your horse gets walloped at Cheltenham, preferably by an English horse, preferably Jonbon.
Emmett Kennedy was lapping it all up and egging him on, slagging Jonbon enthusiastically too, the lickspittle.
January 17, 2026 at 16:17 #17508012M chase div is great for the bookies. None of the favs are flawless jumpers and they are all liable to something like today happening to IET. Something at a wild price probably goes close on the day, happened a few times now.
January 17, 2026 at 16:17 #1750802You can be cocky training Marine … hes that good , nowt wrong with a bit of banter , Henderson in his interview said Jonbon has been unlucky at the festival , no he’s been beaten fair and square
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026

No he isn’t. He’s good, a decent G1 horse who deserves his wins, but he ain’t no Sprinter. They’re about all on a par. If Marine wins at the DRF, hacks up at Cheltenham and then wins easily at Aintree and/or Punchestown then I will concede that he is head and shoulders above everything else. But I don’t think he will, because I don’t think he is.
January 17, 2026 at 16:28 #1750807Sorry Green that’s nonsense , he’s won a supreme and a champion already and is fav for this year’s , he’s top class , poss the best nh horse in training
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 16:32 #1750808Exactly green.
Nothing excuses those comments and Marine Nationale, while a very talented horse is hardly a Sprinter Sacre. He’s not a Master Minded or Moscow Flyer either.
Marine Nationale has 4 G1s to his name vs Jonbons 11 with only 1 year between them. He’s better at Cheltenham but that doesn’t make him a better horse. I do think he’s the most likely winner in March but honestly, the Queen Mother has become such a weird race that anything is possible on the day.
Sir Gino would absolutely piss himself cantering past Marine Nationale if he’d been sent chasing again this season.
January 17, 2026 at 16:33 #1750809HDLG. In what world is he better than Galopin Des Champs. Crazy talk.
GDC is a legendary horse.
January 17, 2026 at 16:38 #1750810The world where Marine is the current 2 Mile champion and GDC isnt even the staying chasing champion , I’m talking today not 2 years ago … I can’t see how you can ask a much younger horse to have the same stats as 2 much older horses , GDC has been a great horse , no doubt but he was murdered last year
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 16:45 #1750812Marine 3 from 8 over fences, Jonbon 14 from 20. Sure we’ll see at the DRF if MN comes on from his reappearance to confirm form with the klutz Maj and beat the mighty Solness.
January 17, 2026 at 16:47 #1750814Your talking nonsense HDLG man.
Galopin and Jonbon are 10yo, only one year older than Marine Nationale at 9yo. He’s not a young horse.
Galopin is on 13 G1 wins
Jonbon is on 11 G1 wins
Marine Nationale only has 4 G1 wins. He ain’t closing that gap ever.
Sir Gino is only a 6yr old and is already on 3 G1 wins.January 17, 2026 at 16:47 #1750815“I can’t see how you can ask a much younger horse to have the same stats as 2 much older horses”
Marine is 9, only a year younger than Jonbon and GDC. He seems younger because he is so unsound he has had little racing.
January 17, 2026 at 16:49 #1750816Green Marines the best 2 miler just now, I’ll leave this here to remind you , you obv love Jonbon , fair enough , but at the top level when the Irish turn up he’s gets beat , that’s a fact
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 16:53 #1750817Barry Connell talks Jonbon from 14 mins 20 secs in this video in case you missed it.
January 17, 2026 at 16:59 #1750819Sigh Marine is better than Jonbon , he’s won a supreme and a champion , Jonbon hasn’t , he’s also hammered him in the Champion last year , I couldn’t give a toss how many 3/4 runner grade 1 Jonbon has won come March he fails to make the grade
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 17:05 #1750821Jonbon. Just a thought. Had Cobden been on he’d have been hailed a genius.
Good horses make good jockeys.
January 17, 2026 at 17:05 #1750822”The world where Marine is the current 2 Mile champion and GDC isnt even the staying chasing champion”
Galopin was literally awarded chaser of the year by the ROA and horse of the year by the HRI last season after winning the Savills, Irish Gold Cup and Punchestown Gold Cup.
This after he’s already won 2 Cheltenham Gold Cups and countless other G1s.Marine Nationale shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence.
January 17, 2026 at 17:08 #1750824Would he have even won with Cobden on board?
The more I know the less I understand.
