IET is up thank god – assuming it was a tired fall and he was winded
January 17, 2026 at 15:47 #1750783Thank God , get him home Willie and ready for Cheltenham
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 15:48 #1750784Phew. IET ok.
January 17, 2026 at 15:49 #1750785Great news …
Well done those on JonbonGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 17, 2026 at 15:49 #1750786Great news… I hoped he was winded as he fell on his left side. His jumping was very strange today and he never seemed to be traveling at all. Marine Nationale has nothing to worry in the QM.
January 17, 2026 at 15:50 #1750787Is IET up? I only have my phone to watch on.
I hope James Bowen gets some credit for the win, you can be sure if Cobden was in the saddle he would be praised, in fact somebody on the betfair forum who didn’t know about the jockey substitution wrote this post thinking it was Cobden:
“Shades of Barry G there in the JP silks. Things not looking good but never gives in , tactically astute and galvanises the horse to victory!”Jonbon didn’t jump like a 2 miler, he put in short ones everywhere and put down the one time he was asked a fair question- Bowen had the wit to accept this and not ask for anything more. Don’t think the safety-first attitude is the jockey’s fault, it may be how Jonbon is now. Admirable horse, even if he hasn’t got the physical or mental ability to do the spectacular 2 mile chaser thing any more, he tries so hard.

Oh brilliant. It did look a tired winded fall but you never know
January 17, 2026 at 15:52 #1750789Ruby don’t discount him that easily , hopefully there’s no injury and we get the race of the festival

Yes, how many Grade 1s is it for Jonbon now?
January 17, 2026 at 15:55 #1750791Great to see IET up. He’s always had a tendency to throw an absolute stinker in and this was just one of them days. Still can’t fully get behind him for the Queen Mother for that reason.
Todays race always plays out like a 2 1/2 miler and that’s right up Jonbons alley.
Thistleask has run an absolute blinder. He’s a flying machine and this stiff race was always going to be tough for him today. I thought they should’ve pulled him out and gone for the Game Spirit instead.
He’d have a huge chance in the Queen Mother on the back of todays run but I think he may have left his chance behind today.
January 17, 2026 at 15:56 #1750792He,d have more CAS except IET smashed him to bits in 2
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 15:59 #1750793Have to put a line through that completely for IET as he never looked to be travelling at any stage and it very much looked like a tired fall as well – give him a week or so off and then get him right for Cheltenham.
Lets not forget that Marine Nationale is still to run at the DRF so who knows what will happen there as it will likely be quite a good field in opposition, so still plenty of water to go under the bridge and things can (and probably will) change again.
At the end of the day they will just be relieved that IET will still be coming back home with them.
January 17, 2026 at 16:00 #1750794Def LD , I was getting really worried there for a sec , still plenty prep time
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 17, 2026 at 16:02 #1750795Remember Barry Connell saying Jonbon’s not a proper G1 horse.
Possibly the most idiotic comment I ever heard.
He’s not an all time great like Sprinter Sacre, Altior and Moscow Flyer etc but he’s still a brilliant horse and proper G1 performer.
That’s 11 G1s for him now. I’d bet Barry Connell never trains a horse to win more.

More hype, IET was never going to win even if he stood up.The more I know the less I understand.

Eleven. Nearly one and a half million in prize money. Never been out of the first two, even when he got a fence completely wrong and pretty much crashed to standstill in this race 2 years ago, still had the heart to keep going and try to get back in the race.
January 17, 2026 at 16:10 #1750799How many has he won at the festival …. Fine horse but the new one of chasing
