Wish you hadn’t said that; I’ve just got back from work and have been toying with the idea of jumping in the car and having a bet on him; I really rate Willie Haggas as a trainer. I think there’s only a couple in the race with a Derby entry and he’s one of them.
If you shied away from a bet just because I fancied him, then you’re a deadset pussy

The performance of Coolmore horse and jockey reminded me of another held-up horse in a similar race yesterday.
I think Murtagh could’ve prevented getting blocked just before the straight.
Bit of a muddling affair in the end – gosh I’m cynical!
May 8, 2009 at 17:35 #226332Murtagh is obviuosly a slow learner…

Well I must be the nearest person to him on the Forum just say the word and I’ll make it look like an accident

Honestly mate most of my friends here are Aussies and they’re all the same. Blunt and straight to the point and that "Next Question" patter is just part of the way they talk. I’m sure Myles didn’t mean it in a bad way he just means he’s positive in what he is saying.
Anyway I’m off to watch the betting on Frozen Fire with luck the bookies might be stupid enough to thenk Mutagh will mess this up too and offer 4/5 or 10/11. Major bet if they do as the 2nd fav is an autumn horse.
May 8, 2009 at 17:37 #226335Didn’t mean it that way! Had talked myself out of backing him and was just about to have a cup of tea when I read your post and I was annoyed with myself. Whenever I end up working late and miss out on having a bet the horse I fancy always wins, just as, if I back to win it always comes second!…..if Fault wins the 3.15 I may shoot myself……

5/6 Frozen Fire is stealing money here against these two
that was expensive but why go at a crawl against your main danger who has never run over the trip
May 8, 2009 at 17:49 #226337this is hilarious.. they went down faster than this
May 8, 2009 at 17:55 #226338I thought that was a brilliant race personally, one of the most interesting tactically since Notnowcato won the Eclipse.
The boys on RUK are slating the race and saying how can that attract newcomers to the sport but they are totally wrong here IMO
PS – I had a small bet on Frozen Fire
May 8, 2009 at 17:57 #226339Murtagh should walk into the weighing room and look out his Ryanair tkt and head straight home.
He’s having an absolute nightmare.
Even on a proven stayer in a three horse race, he still makes a horlicks of it. For such a good and experienced jockey, his last few rides have been shocking.
Betting wise today at Chester, I started and stopped with Drumbeat

‘You could have timed that with a calender’
Brilliant
May 8, 2009 at 18:07 #226344just remembered why i never punt at chester, j.egan lost the race by his own crap riding and then objects and what should have been a very good race to watch becomes a farce.
crap track for racing should close it downMay 8, 2009 at 18:08 #226345Chester is a glorified dog track.

– thank god !Diplomatically put as usual Sir! I personally think that Johnny Murtagh
has gone from Hero to Zero at Chester this week! I have lost confidence
in his ability as a Jockey, he is seriously not interested!!May 8, 2009 at 18:12 #226347

– thank god !I know jockey are often told how to ride but that last race was a disgrace. Does this guy even read a form book? He should have taken it up the minute the other two started dawdling and as you say made it a test of stamina. Hemust have forgotten how he outstayed everything in the Irish Derby and how gamely he ran on. I know I said he was a dodgy bet when the wholefield werestill in but not against these two.
PS Can I borrow your shotgun?

crap track for racing should close it downWhat a load of nonsense. The variety of tracks and conditions makes Britain’s racing what it is.
As a 1m5f contest the race was a farce admittedly but is it that bad that something different happened? I backed the winner last night at 9/2 so I wouldn’t have the same attitude as those who backed Frozen Fire would have but nevertheless all three horses had the same chance William Buick showed more initiative than the others and fair play to him.
What I do find odd is Johnny Murtagh’s comments on C4 just that he was under orders to relax the horse as it was his first run of the season and ensure that he came home Ok. Fk me relax? At that pace I’m surprised they weren’t all asleep. He should’ve shown more initiative but its no guarantee that the result would’ve been any different anyway Frozen Fire is a bit of a monkey.

crap track for racing should close it downWell if you think the track is that bad:
1. You don’t have to bet there.
2. Don’t blame the jockey.

May 8, 2009 at 18:28 #226354Been a fascinating three days; just remember..3.15 sprint Day 1; do NOT back stall 1…3.15 sprint Day 3 back stall 1; roll on next year!
May 8, 2009 at 18:30 #226355Chester is a glorified dog track.
Sour grapes.
If you think that is what it is, what are you doing betting on races there?
