If Willie Mullins says its raining I would look out the window to check!!
I have absolutely ZERO trust in the man!!
And he can say he is aiming the mare at the CH but what happens in March is not necessarily what he says in October!!Good Luck with Laurina guys but won’t be getting any of my money before March!!
November 1, 2018 at 19:03 #1379235Many share your view raymo. More money for Laurina in the mares than CH the day willie announced the plan was CH. I’ve said it before and il say it again, willie loses absolutely nothing in the eyes if connections and most punters by aiming high at this stage of the season. He has nothing to lose by saying the plan is the CH because it is ambitious and she can then slot in the mares if not up to it in open company
November 1, 2018 at 21:33 #1379244I got the impression that owners were keen to aim high, rather than necessarily the trainer himself.
I’m going to stick a bit on Sharjah tonight for the CH in case he gives the messiah a race tomorrow. Missed the 50s (oddschecker not caught up); 33s still available.
I was very taken with his stout hearted run up the hill in Galway under a big weight.November 1, 2018 at 22:08 #1379246It will be interesting alright with some of these new connections- probably unlikely they will be able to overpower Mullins but interesting nonetheless.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!November 1, 2018 at 22:37 #1379248I think Willie will mostly get his way in the end but if they are nursing a Champion Hurdle dream I’m sure it does no harm for client relations for him to stand in front of the press talking about how much of a potential star she is and about mapping out a CH campaign. With the caveat that she could go for the mares. That way he hasn’t actually deceived anyone.
If she turns out to be a superstar then crack on for the CH; if she seems not quite Annie #2 and Melon and a couple of the others are burning up the track; but Benie isn’t and/or Apple’s Jade looks a big threat again for the Mares’, then the Mares’ I suspect it will be. March is still ages away. Plenty of time for the wheels to come off various wagons…
November 2, 2018 at 11:36 #137928350s for Sharjah actually is still available with Paddy Power so I went ahead and took it.
November 2, 2018 at 11:55 #1379287Put up LAURINA at 14/1 after Cheltenham last year in cheltenham bets thread so hope end up here
November 2, 2018 at 14:01 #1379309As I suspected. Samcro lacking a bit of 2 mile pace
November 2, 2018 at 18:27 #1379362A bit disappointing, I feared he would be a bit short of pace for top-lever hurdling. But everyone is allowed one off day, looked quite big in the paddock, so worth another chance
November 2, 2018 at 19:54 #1379375Its a bit early to write him off as a 2m hurdler, but for what its worth i dont think he would win this regardless, as i said earlier laurina is or was a bet at double figure prices, melon also… will be astounded if BVD can win a 3rd, surely something is going to improve past him. Elliot after the race was very honest in saying he should have been fit enough to win, theyll probably give him one more chance in the morgiana if he gets beaten, chasing wont be far away
Backed bedrock a few times on the flat and now he wins
November 2, 2018 at 22:18 #1379417Just worth noting that was 3 mins 43 secs 2m hurdle – that is fast. I’d be taking 9/2 – prob not a whole lot wrong with that performance, the winner is now a good horse, and Samcro will get better
November 3, 2018 at 10:45 #1379501Several of Elliott’s have been beaten in small field races this week and the horse did appear to tire during the final two furlongs.
I thought he jumped well, though not as slick as Buveur D’Air, but I keep expecting to see a change of gear – even in the Ballymore I think he simply outstayed his rivals.
He’ll win races this year as there are plenty of opportunities for himNovember 4, 2018 at 12:51 #1379676Give Elliott a 3 Mile chaser and he’ll get most out of it, but he is no where near as good as Willie Mullins is at training a 2mile hurdler. For that reason and on the basis of how overrated samcro is I would think that Laurina should be ahead of samcro in the betting for this race. And let’s not forget that Melon only lost out to BVD by a neck last year. I’d fancy him to improve for that. Melon and laurina for me
November 4, 2018 at 13:45 #1379680Another Elliott hotpot beaten in the opener at Cork – many of these horses aren’t as fit as I’d expect.
I agree with Wex about the 2 mile hurdler aspect.
November 4, 2018 at 13:54 #1379682Mark- agreed on the fitness, was at Down Royal both days and we were talking about it on the Friday night, all his horses seemed to run as if they weren’t very fit, most haven’t worked on grass even yet…Delta Work won over a trip shorter than his best, but even that took a bit more winning than i’d have expected.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 2, 2018 at 15:39 #1387855Can’t see anything beating Buveur S’Air now !!
Looks like one of my bankers sorted out now!!
December 2, 2018 at 15:48 #1387857Hopefully laurina still to show herself! A lot to find on ratings of course and its a big ask
Still quite fancy melon putting in a good bid, hes probably the sensible bet atm as its hard to imagine he wont be atleast 2nd again
