douginho wrote…….. just cant see one horse running away with it.
You are probably right….unless Dunguib runs of course!
If he doesn’t run and with a bit of a cloud over Voler La Vadette’s fitness (she might miss The Festival) I’m coming round to Go Native but after seeing Paul Carberry screw up big time "Harchibald" style (yet) again on Muirhead on Tuesday I’ll be keeping my cash in my pocket if he’s on boardYes, was a weird ride, he could have run away with that race.
January 22, 2010 at 16:23 #271443Hi there, new to the forums, Not to go into great detail bit I am only 15 but love racing and cheltenham, my view on the Champion Hurdle is that Go Native or Solwhit will win it.
Go Native has progressed a lot this season and although he looked to be cantering yet tiring (?) last time out I think if he gets his ground a good jockey he may have the class.
Solwhit has form to reverse against the above but if he runs anything like his first run and the christmas hurdle he might run close.
Others to look out for I like are Katchit(Not the horse he was when he won this 2 years ago but I like him and I expect a place at least) Zaynar is an improving runner and I can see Geraghty going for him over Punjabi though Punjabis experienced the champion hurdle before and that could sway Geraghty onto Punjabi. The one I would look out for is Khyber Kim the horse has improved loads in his last 2 runs if the form stays then it may have a chance.
I’ll make a few more conclusions after tomorrows Haydock race with Punjabi and Medermit in to see how Punjabi is doing.
January 22, 2010 at 16:37 #271453welcome Kez

only thing wrong there fella is to say "at least a place" for Katchit.
I’d be amazed if he was top 15
January 22, 2010 at 16:40 #271457Thanks Big Bucks, I really like Katchit as a horse I’d be amazed if he can sneak a place, though I think his time as a racer is coming to an end, Sentry Duty cantered past him in that 3 runner race the other week and he was the outsider in the race! We’ll see though eh.

Nice to see a young man with an "old head on young shoulders" I look forward to reading more of your posts.
Out of interest How would you read the 2010 race if Dunguib and/or Voler La Vadette were in the line up?
PS May I recommend you view the You Tube Golden Cygnet’s 1978 win at The Festival…..good education…. I have a feeling you’d appreciate seeing the finest hurdler never to win a Champion Hurdle
January 22, 2010 at 18:23 #271477Hi CS,If Voler La Vadette were in the race It may be a different story, I have’nt seen this horse run yet but from what I hear the horse is class, Dunguib is a good horse to, only seen a couple of runs and it ran away with both of them, I dont think they’d have the turn of foot Solwhit or Go Native have though..but as i say have’nt seen the former yet so I don’t know, anyone know where I can find a video of any races Voler La Vadettes run in?
If Cape Tribulation runs well tomorrow at Haydock I’d like to see what price he gets for the champion hurdle,Starluck looks a good e/w bet. Donnas Palm may be another good e/w shot if he runs in this race.
Thanks for the comment aswell CS

Racing post lets one watch any race for 20p, if you search on google you’d probably find a free link.
Careful though…I got shot down in flames for suggesting Donna’s Palm is a realCH player and most poster were less that conplimentary about Voler La Vadette, why (?) I’ve NO IDEA? Too impressive against Go Native perhaps, too good to be true? Not the way I saw it
January 22, 2010 at 18:37 #271479Call me Kez, CS.
I’ll have a search and see if I can find anything, I reckon Donnas Palm could be a contender, but I think she/he will go elsewhere, Id like to see where Mikael D’Haguenet goes, maybe he’ll go for the champion hurdle, but i know he has an injury so he may not turn up at all
January 22, 2010 at 19:33 #271494Kez, you can watch At The Races replays for free on their site.
Voler La Vedette is special, pity it looks like she’s going for the mares race.
January 22, 2010 at 20:03 #271501She’s going for the mares race because they know she would struggle to place in the Champion Hurdle. This seasons hurdlers ain’t as bad as some would have you believe, quite the opposite in fact. The top contenders are nowhere near 100% wound up yet. Punjabi could get beat tomorrow against a bunch of lesser horses, but still turn up in March and do the business. Celestial Halo still has a bit of running to do before he is fine tuned, and the same goes for Binocular. Punjabi got beat at Wincanton before winning it last season, off of Whiteoak and Ashkhazar, so Medermit might just turn him over tomorrow, and not see which direction he went in March. The problem for the punter is that it’s difficult to know how far along each horse is supposed to be, and which ones are just simply not doing the business. Of all the horses so far, Solwit has been the most impressive…but is there a case for saying he might have peaked a little early ?
January 22, 2010 at 20:23 #271503I wouldn’t say that Goldikova. Charles Byrnes is a shrewd operator who will no doubt have Solwhit 100% for the big day.
January 22, 2010 at 20:49 #271506I never said it, it was a question !
January 22, 2010 at 21:07 #271507My apologies!
January 23, 2010 at 15:02 #271620Alan King has made it quite clear Merdemit is not a Champion Hurdle horse and the only reason he’s keeping him to hurdles is he thinks it’s too late to go chasing rainbows and trying to win the Arkle.
Medermit has been running since November,Alan King could have had him jumping fences then, his first run at Cheltenham behind Khyber Kim giving him weight reads well! Alan King stated clearly then that his next run would be over fences,a change of mind after the Khyber kim form starts to look promising! For sure when i first did my own Arkle analysis some 8 months ago,Medermit was my second choice to Somersby, thanks again to the Go Native "Supreme" form and Supreme it is! Chasing rainbows my A**e!
Watch and learn Fist!Watch and Learn!
January 23, 2010 at 15:20 #271626How on earth did Punjabi win last season’s Champion Hurdle ?

If the same horse manages to sqeeze his emblazoned head in front this year, I demand… a public inquiry !

January 23, 2010 at 16:07 #271639Because he was the best horse in the race?
Still not at peak fitness, Henderson’s horses struggled manfully today, ground was wrong, pace was wrong, main rival is decent…
I liked what I saw, glad that others didn’t
