Upbeat bulletin from Mullins in the Post about Hurricane Fly – apparently "stronger than I’ve ever seen him".

November 3, 2009 at 13:48 #256895cant see past binocular this year myself and I was one of his biggest doubters last year.
I thought there was every chance he wouldnt stay last year and was proved so wrong.
Mccoy must have thought if he popped the last somewhere handy, nothing would live with his speed and you could forgive him as we probably all thought that. Now that we know how well he does stay I can see AP using his speed earlier in the race and saying catch me if you can.
What we dont know about Hurricane Fly yet is what we didnt know about Binocular last year. What’s he got when the pressure’s really on?Better the devil you know than the one you dont I say. A lot stronger behind the saddle this year also (so says Henderson) and with that in mind you’d like to think he’ll improve a bit if anything.
Looks a cracking price to me, should be favourite.

You’re spot on Andrew. Let’s face it Hurricane Fly is a talking horse who has beat sweet fanny adams. I doubt if we have seen a worse lot of novices gathered together on the same racecourses in years.
I did think if HF could beat Go Native again it would boost his form but blow me the Supreme Hurdles winner just got stuffed by Voler La Vedette in far more impressive style than Hurricane Fly beat him…….and despite the fact Go Native was already a winner this season.
These are not Champion Hurdle horses and Hurricane Fly has a long long way to go before he can be even talked about in the same breath as Binocular.
Binny Roles OK!!!!!

This is misleading, inaccurate tripe even by your standards, Fist.
November 6, 2009 at 14:49 #257440Go Native gets beat – time to tear up my antepost slips on Hurricane Fly so.
November 6, 2009 at 16:31 #257454Go Native is a horse that was always going to need further in time. Today’s performance probably hints that now is the time…

Don’t think he gets 2 miles all that well to be honest, Ben

Conditions were hardly in Go Native’s favour this afternoon, having to concede 9lb on unsuitable ground to an improving 141-rated Listed winner, and Noel Meade’s horses don’t appear to be running all that well at the moment.
As a guide to Hurricane Fly’s Champion Hurdle aspirations today’s race was relatively meaningless.
November 7, 2009 at 14:22 #257606That made TAPK feel much better, you cant beat class and at the weights
Celestial Halo
has got Champion Hurdle winner written all over him!It may have been a poor renewal of the Elite hurdle at Wincanton there, but its the way he did it!Pure Class!!
November 7, 2009 at 17:27 #257659Very good performance from C.Halo. Nicholls said in the RP aswell that he would come on alot for the run.

He looked like a Tank today, but travelled like a Rolls Royce,no doubting this fellow is still improving, not that he needs to.Celestial Halo laid down the gauntlet today,so come and have a go if you think you"re hard enough is the chant from the stands!

Interesting view Shabby.
I think a step up would do him the world of good. He definitely isn’t champion Hurdle class and he has bags of inherited stamina in his pedigree.
November 8, 2009 at 12:11 #257855Willie gives the latest on Hurricane Fly.

Celestial halo

Pleased to see the hype bubble burst for HF there – anyone that backed him at 5/1 or less for the CH deserves to lose money
