Walsh has been good at falling off of horses (Annie Power) and losing races he should have won, for quite a while.
I repeat, Ruby Walsh is a has-been and currently I’d rather have Towend aboard any horse I back, than Walsh.
December 20, 2017 at 14:56 #1333162Altior out to 4.0 at one stage today, back around the 3.5 mark now, very alarming movement.
Anyone who thinks Ruby is past it ‘these days,’ all you need to do is watch the rides he gave Yorkhill and Nichols Canyon, to name just a couple, at last years festival.
December 20, 2017 at 15:41 #1333166News to me that Walsh “fell off” Annie. Looking at google images of the fall he’s still sitting in good balance on the mare when her forehead, knees, elbows and hocks are on the turf and his boots are about a foot away from it. He only comes out of the saddle when her hindquarters come up and she starts going over sideways. I believe she jumped the shadow and I don’t think it was his fault at all.
December 20, 2017 at 18:55 #1333191Yorkhill worth a small stakes bet for this at 14s
The Lexus should dissuade them from thinking his nerves can hold out for a Gold Cup
December 21, 2017 at 13:29 #1333301On that theory he would surely go Ryanair? Won last two years at the fez over that distance and the stable has Min & Great Field (if he’s back in time). Although saying that, it’s WPM, so I’ve had a little bit on for the XC.
December 21, 2017 at 19:09 #1333372He still needs restraint over 21f though.
He’d be a rare sight over 16f. Much better chance of getting into a rhythm and would, I think, jump much better.
December 22, 2017 at 12:37 #1333451I don’t think it’s rhythm though, he’s just a mentalist.
December 27, 2017 at 13:21 #1334303Not a great performance from Min there
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
December 27, 2017 at 13:22 #1334304Well Min has absolutely no chance in the champion chase based on that run. Leagues below altior even if altior turns up with no prep run he destroys min.
Will Mullins put Un De Sceaux here now?December 27, 2017 at 13:25 #1334305Considering he was free early on and was his second run back after a break and a bad jump at the last I think it was actually a pretty decent performance in his first open grade one
December 27, 2017 at 13:27 #1334306Why does he have no chance?
Why would he put UDS here now?
Wasnt overly impressive, but he was keen for most of the race, will need to improve to beat altior, but will need to settle better, the horse making the mistake i dont think helped him
December 27, 2017 at 13:29 #1334307Considering he was free early on and was his second run back after a break and a bad jump at the last I think it was actually a pretty decent performance in his first open grade one
Have to agree with that, its silly to slam his chances for that
December 27, 2017 at 13:40 #1334309And I don’t actually agree with the placings of the leopardstown race being reversed. Min was ahead jumping the last by more than a lengths and if he wants to run half a horse width from the rail then that is simply the advantage of being in front at the last. And if mark Walsh wanted to run up the rail in a space only wide enough for half a horse then that’s his problem. Result should not have been reversed.
December 27, 2017 at 13:42 #1334310Funny thing is if simply ned beat him a short head today people would be definitely wrote him off completely. The fact he won by a head or whatever somehow makes it better.
2nd run back is no excuse considering how well he was first time out.
Simply ned won’t even run in the champion chase.
And I’m terms of jumping if every horse jumped every fence perfectly it would be a flat race haha. Most horses make mistakes most races. All in all a minor mistake and 2nd run from a break even though he was decent first time out is no excuse for beating simply ned in a photo. Sorry your antepost bets have took a blow but take a view from a far and be realistic that he needs to improve a stone to win a champion chaseDecember 27, 2017 at 13:45 #1334312It might be time to start getting into Special Tiara at 25/1.
No Douvan, potentially no Altior, Min downed, Fox Norton in the wilderness.
It makes the Desert Orchid more interesting.
December 27, 2017 at 14:21 #1334326Looked the right decision to me. Min cut across SN twice. The second one sent SN into the rails.
Blatant interference.
Feeling great about Altior right now I have to say.
No Douvan. No Fox Norton. Min is no match for my fella. Yorkhill likely going elsewhere.
Altior turns up.. he wins.
December 27, 2017 at 14:52 #1334337Min was underwhelming, thought he pulled quite hard and jumping wasn’t slick, especially at the last. Hva e to forgive him one bad run, but something to prove now.Wasn’t hugely impressed by Politologue either. Delighted++ for Simply Ned!!
