Altior/Min forecast is probably my banker of the whole festival.
These 2 are from a better generation than Douvan. His year of Novices were poor compared to altior/min’s (except sizing John over the wrong trip) I just think altior/Min generation is a mile better plus Douvan is having to go against them first time up. I would see it a miracle if Douvan could beat either of them. Min will be 2nd fav by race time. Walsh has made the wrong call. I think he’s riding Douvan because he knows altior holds Min on supreme form and probably a lot of Chase form and he’s probably thinking well there’s a chance Douvan could be better having not raced against each other. But I think he’s made the wrong decision over looking Min just as he did on Faugheen yesterday and just as Townend did on yorkhill when Min thrashed itMarch 14, 2018 at 14:36 #1346465Chapman has just said Ricci has text him to say they think Ruby has broken his leg and that Patrick Mullins will now ride Douvan.
March 14, 2018 at 15:16 #1346477Douvan friendless without Ruby.
Value Is EverythingMarch 14, 2018 at 15:38 #1346481Good winner but what a shame Douvan came down because he looked like he was on it
March 14, 2018 at 15:39 #1346482As my Uncle would say, Yeeeee Haaaaah!
Value Is EverythingMarch 14, 2018 at 15:42 #1346484Savage good performance. Good run by min. I reckon min is very very good and altior is just special. Douvan looked to be running and jumping so well until he took off too soon. I wouldn’t write him off yet. Decent performance too by Gods Own on ground he hates. Shows how well Tom Georges horses are going at the moment.

Yes, was a shame LD; but Douvan was bound to travel like that. Too far out to know how he’d finish.
Value Is EverythingMarch 14, 2018 at 15:49 #1346488Piled in to Altior at 11-10, but Douvan was going so well and jumping so fluently med me a bit nervous. But hard to imagine him troubling the winner who finished like a train. Would love to see him have a crack at the Gold Cup
March 14, 2018 at 15:50 #13464893rd time lucky for me, although I thought it was going to be a case of deja vu when he hit the flat spot
UDS was my jackpot horse two years ago
Douvan last year
Been backing Altior since before last year and only stopped before the tingle creek and switched my attenion to Samcro.
Happy days…..
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 14, 2018 at 15:51 #1346490Altior didn’t travel as well as some expected. But often shows a flat spot and mostly races prominently/tracks pace in small fields, with a lot more room than there was today. Once Nico switched around horses Altior picked up well. In the end… actually putting the distance between himself and Min that I’d expect with both running to form.
Value Is EverythingMarch 14, 2018 at 15:55 #1346491True Grit from Altior there.
I remember a couple of years ago that someone told me Nicky Henderson was gone at the training game.
Winner number 60 at the Festival. I’d say that there’s life in that old dog yet.
Douvan’s jockey has just said his horse was cruising and he felt that he had the race in control. I reckon if he could have kept going the way he was Altior might not have got to him.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
March 14, 2018 at 16:00 #1346493Patrick Mullins was caught by Chapman walking back in and he said he was cantering and felt like the Douvan he rode at Leopardstown 2yrs ago and at the time he came down he felt he had control of the race.
The main thing is the horse looked ok walking back but fingers crossed he pulls out ok in the morning and they can crack on and we see him on the course again this season.
March 14, 2018 at 16:02 #1346494I bet Politologue + I was quietly confident of a big run, but that was a proper winner + fall or not, I think he would have dealt with Douvan.
Well done Jasolong with the forecast nap
March 14, 2018 at 16:08 #1346498Cheers pal!!! I lumped that forecast!! Haha

Believe that and you’ll believe anything. Patrick would’ve said that however he’d have been travelling.
Value Is EverythingMarch 14, 2018 at 16:10 #1346501Haha agreed Douvan would never beat altior for he rest of its career
March 14, 2018 at 16:19 #1346502Great win considering the setbacks this year and the ground was definitely not favorable for him.
Not sure we will see Altior V Douvan again this season or even next.
