I see JP McManus has bought Made in Time.
Not surprising when you look at the way he won a Ffos Las. The commentatot remarked your be lucky to call the winner about 2 1/2 furlongs out and I almost backed one in running who was sitting just behind AP. He looked to be travelling like a dream when suddenly AP dropped to the drive position on Made in Time. The repsonse was instant and this thing just took off leaving everything in his wake.
He runs on Saturday when yours truly will be getting stuck right in and he’s now 20/1 at best for the Bumper at Cheltenham.
JP bought him on AP’s recommendation. Not the first time he’s done that but this looks like a exceptionally nice horse and could be well worth an EW interest for the big one. If he wins as expected on Saturday expect a new fav.
Made In Time has been 20/1 for quite a while – bookmakers have wised up to the Curtis yard now. Like so many of these they look very impressive but most of the time there is not much in behind and for most people it is down to pure guesswork as to whether they can cope with the massive rise in class.
February 12, 2010 at 16:45 #275868I think youve missed the point ,and the action guys. Rebecca who used to work at Peter Bowens years ago, has a very friendly realationship with Costelloe. A very nice little channel for some of the best in Ireland to find their way into the heart of British racing. Quite a few big price winners in bumpers from the start of the season.
February 12, 2010 at 16:46 #275869Have already bet Aurucaria but was impressed by Made in Times performance at Ffos Las for the great Rebecca/ Costelloe combination

Curtis partner is Tom Costello’s nephew – they source a lot of horses from the pointing ranks in Ireland. Top trainer who’s also spent time as an Assistant Trainer in California
February 12, 2010 at 17:59 #275890Have heard a rumour that John Hales has bought Al Ferof for a price in the region of 250,000, to be trained by Paul Nicholls. Only a rumour though…
Al Ferof confirmed as a Nicholls horse in his column Saturday in the RP. Bought by John Hales and is by Don Alco, the same sire as Hales,Neptune Collonges.Hope to run him in the bumper at Newbury on Aon day.
Al Ferof does run at Newbury tomorrow but may I suggest that far better value might lie in the shape of CARPINCHO whose Irish Point form is far superior to Al Ferof’s, Carpincho beat the highly regarded Some Fool in his maiden, albeit in a photo but was 14-1 that day and won his bumber withour breaking sweat although the opposition wasn’t up to much.
Racing Post analysis states….
"The winner CARPINCHO, winner of his only start in a point-to-point, travelled with ease throughout and should have little trouble making his mark over hurdles in due course, but will run in another bumper first. He doesn´t lack for size or scope."
February 13, 2010 at 10:18 #276040Just rang 10 bookmakers for a quote on a horse for this race – 8 quoted 33/1 and the other 2 25/1. Further evidence that it is 33/1 bar every horse in training. I will not wasting my time again.
I get offered 33/1 about a Fontwell bumper winner yet a Henderson/Magnier Kempton bumper winner is priced up at 25/1 – I think it just emphasises the point I was making about the 33/1 bar.
February 13, 2010 at 10:47 #276043Any news on Forty Foot Tom will be in the bumper race at the festival.

Both ran well in what looked the hottest UK bumper this year…
February 13, 2010 at 23:30 #276461Pickapocketortwo is supposed to be a one of the "Mullins Squad" for the Bumper.

Was sold at $270K at the recent Chelt sale.February 15, 2010 at 19:00 #276930Roddy Owen
I’m waiting to hear too, I beieve he’s gone to Dr Lambe
February 15, 2010 at 19:03 #276931Gone into training with Jim Culloty.
Ronan Lambe owns both of DK’s bumper contenders as well so I doubt they’ll all run. A case of wait and see I guess.
February 15, 2010 at 19:12 #276934To me he was by far the most impressive bumper winner this season
February 16, 2010 at 02:11 #277027araucaria for me
should be 3 from 3 but was (given a greville) on her 2nd run when she would have beaten for bill easily
ground not an issue and at 14s she is outstanding value
February 16, 2010 at 14:20 #277136Naas bumper on Sunday:
(5:20) 31G paddypower.com (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race
€9,660.00 ( 2m – 4,7yo )[MAX 25] NHFrm65-1 1 Acey (TJNagle Jr.)
121- 2 Araucaria (JEKiely) – MrDKiely
32 3 Bubbly Bruce (WHarney)
3 4 Crazy Executive (PJRothwell)
112/- 5 Endless Intrigue (DKWeld)
1- 6 Lios A Choill (WPMullins)
0-1 7 Minella Class (THorgan)
5 8 Moscow Storm (JANash)
30-1 9 Old Charm (GB) (PFenton)
6- 10 Rather Curious (JABerry)
1- 11 Shot From The Hip (GER) (EJO’Grady)
1- 12 Sizing Mexico (Hde Bromhead)
1- 13 Tavern Times (TMullins)
f 14 The Hardy Man (SFahey)Some very interesting entries there. Lios A Choill missed Cheltenham last year after catching the eye in a Fairyhouse bumper – very well bred horse.
Endless Intrigue hasn’t ran since he was second to Cousin Vinny in the big bumper at Punchestown.
Araucaria, Shoot From The Hip, Tavern Times and Sizing Mexico all could be Cheltenham bound too.
February 16, 2010 at 15:12 #277148I was particularly impressed by Sizing Mexico’s debut run, currently on my (fairly) short list for The Festival
The novice hurdle and chase might throw up something but only if one of the winners really bolted home
February 16, 2010 at 15:42 #277161I have heard that the Mullins yard think Tavern Times is there best bumper horse, but I heard the same thing last year about Meath All Star so I wouldn’t read too much into that just yet.
If Endless Intrigue wins then thats a massive boost for Hidden Universe.
