Newmarket 430 Cool Art – 3pts @ 7/2
Gowran Park 410 Chinese White 2pts @7/4
Vodafone Oaks – Chinese white 2pts @12-1
The vibes about Chinese white have been extremely positive this year and and her debut last year was hugely impressive, a win today would see her go favorite for epsom and 12-1 may be the best price that she will be seen at between now and then.
1 more point on Saoirse abu @25-1 and one on spacious @5-1
May 4, 2008 at 15:25 #161555Well done on tipping her today B, but if she acts around Epsom I’ll pack in- doubt she’ll even be sent.
May 4, 2008 at 16:47 #161569She was carrying a lot of condition today Carvs she’ll be much straighter for the run I’d expect., Weld has said that she has been slow to come to hand, and he would throw her out today to see how she would get on, but he holds her in the highest regard, and although I was initially dubious over whether she would run at epsom (a big doubt with her being a weld horse) she has been plenty supported in the market, and would appear to be destined for it.
To date she’s had two runs and demolished two fields (the style of todays win suggests theres plenty more to come) she does appear to have an air of superiority about her and stays very well and that could be decisive in the oaks (which tends to come very early in the staying fillies campaign. I would expect she’ll take in another trial before then and we’ll get a better idea. it would be worth watching her debut success if you think she looks like that all the time, I think she looks like a real horse.
After her win today Its a free bet, but I’d rather Kitty Matcham won.

That Lush Lashes run was hugely impressive too, Id pretty much written her off.

May 6, 2008 at 13:09 #161914Chinese White all but ruled out of the Oaks today- sorry B!
Rule 1 of ante-post betting- back a definite runner. If you don’t know if it’s a definite runner, don’t back it.May 6, 2008 at 14:13 #161924Chinese white was always a bit of a hard one for me Carvs, because Im on a few for the Oaks already, and I was hugely impressed by her debut last year. A few people asked me what I thought of her for the oaks at the start of the year and I said "weld horse, probably wont run" but over time Ive been beginning to question that as weld has been very upbeat about her, which isnt that usual for him, and he will occasionally run in britain when he has a good one.
On sunday saw the opportunity to get a bet on for both and dont usually cover anteposters with their trial runs but with all the vibes about her it was more a case of not wanting to go to epsom with such a good horse not covered (when a fair price was available on her), and IMO she is the best trial winner we’ve seen so far, and probably as good as anything we’re likely to see in the trials.
I can live with her being pulled out as she has already paid for herself, but if Kitty Matcham and/or lush lashes were to be struck off that would really be a hit. Kitty matcham is my best result by some way in the oaks, with marjalina and lush lashes also figuring.well.
I know a few people who are on Chinese White as their one and only Oaks bet and their anteposter of the season, so no doubt they will be feeling pretty sick today.

1pt Laughter @16 Vodafone Oaks Just as a cover for other bets as she should win tomorrow and should be a stout stoute stayer at epsom.
Chester 215 4pts Laughter @ 3-1
Stoute Usually has his fired up for the Oaks trials and this one has seen no shortage of oaks money, the form of the others doesnt look that strong, which is probably why stoute has declared her, the O’brien filly may emerge as a danger, but think she should be capable of coping. If sugar mint is to emerge as a danger the market will tell.

Chester Cup
Bulwark 1pt e/w @ 50-1 Obvious really
1pt Missoula @ 16-1 + Has went better with every step up and where improvement is needed she may have some
1pt Fair Along @16-1 Not best drawn but can make all from the front.

A very good day with Bulwark winning
After a very bad spell of picking, a lift of 87.5 for Bulwark and Baycat wins has pulled me back to -1.5pts (which looked almost impossible a while ago, especially after a terrible guineas result.)
-1.5 pts running total.
May 7, 2008 at 20:53 #162204well done Bulwark, on your Bulwark selection.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
May 8, 2008 at 12:42 #162299Chester Vase Yahrab 1pt e/w 1pt win @ 33-1
Quite like Yahrab for an e/w at 33-1, the Dalakhani/Sadlers Wells cross has worked out well enough this year with Unwritten Rule and Chinese White and Yahrab would look to really want the step up to 1m4f and mustered some good ratings in 2yo 1m races. Clive Brittain foiled the bigger stables in this race 2 years ago with hattan and with Kerrin McEvoy in to ride this one I dont think theres any reason to suspect he cant do it again. I do quite like the look of the o’brien’s vivaldi and stoutes runner but no reason why Yahrab should be 33-1 in this race IMO

Prince Foprever 1pt 7-1May 8, 2008 at 15:24 #162336Chester 435 – Bespoke Boy 1pt e/w 2pt win @ 20-1
Have a feeling he may be suited to todays conditions.
May 8, 2008 at 16:03 #162344Epsom Derby – Kingdom Of Naples 2pts @ 20-1.
Have always had a good feeling about this horse, and had a go on him at 33s but with him supposed to be going to contest a solid looking dante on only his second start I feel I have to have a little go, and will have another if he is in there for the 5 day declaration stage.
May 9, 2008 at 16:39 #162519Epsom Derby – Kingdom Of Naples 3pts win @ 20-1.
In the five day decs for the Dante and hasnt had one other entry so would think he is on target for the race. Looking forwrd to the dante.

1 pt e/w 1pt win Comeback Queen @50-1.
Was really impressed with her run in the masaka stakes on the all weather, where she ooked like she was just crying out for further, and looked much classier than the rest of that field, where the fourth horse has ran well in good company since. Think she could go well today at an insulting price, it is a bit worrying however that no money has come in for her

1/2pt rev fcMay 18, 2008 at 11:45 #164161EPSOM DERBY ANTEPOST
Ibn Khaldun 2pt win @ 25-1 (Generally)
Hard to believe really that an impressive racing post trophy winner is 25-1 after being defeated in the guineas, indeed he should see out the trip and could go well, especially if the ground should come up on the better side of good.
King George and QE2 Diamond Stakes
Lucarno 1pt @ 14-1 (Generally)
Lucarno looked a really serious horse last year, and although he was campaigned for the leger, which IMO was realy strong and the form of which has worked out really well with a triumph hurdle winner, a melgbourne cup third and an impressive ormonde stakes wnner all beaten that day, he looks to be set for a serious middle distance campaign this season, should he win the Tattersalls Gold Cup his current price status could well shrink significantly.
Arc De Triomphe
Lucarno 1pt @ 31-1 (Betfair)
June 2, 2008 at 10:42 #166234Sowdlestown Stud Sprint Stakes at Naas
Marquesa 1pt e/w 1pt win @10-1
Cant usually go far wrong with a kingmambo filly in a same sex 6f race on gd-fm at this stage of the season, worth a little go I’d say.
