GWilson,
It does sound strange mate I know, but as I said these people have something wrong with them mentally. They don’t think like you or I, it doesn’t take much to encourage someone like Oswald or Chapman.[quote
Ginge, you and i dont think the same mate, thats why i enjoy the rapport

Value Is EverythingMarch 8, 2009 at 05:19 #214280Immoral?!!!
I’ll tell you something pal – when Marco Antonio Barrera’s fists thud into the cranium of young Amir Khan, causing momentary loss of conciousness due to his brain being smashed against his skull in rounds 3,4 or 5, I shall put a pair of Y-fronts on my head and sing the mexican national anthem through a hole in the gusset.
A horse….with something amiss?, or just plain knackered?…..PAH!!!!
I would assume the thought of betting on the outcome of a boxing bout turns your stomach too?
You’ve got alot of boycotting to do now, or do your morals and compassion only extend to four legged animals?
Don’t blame the p-layer, blame the game
March 8, 2009 at 13:38 #214306C’mon now guys. Please be fair. Gingertipster did suggest this thread had heard arguments both sides of the coin and could now be put to bed. It might not have been conclusively in Mark’s favour but I’m sure there was a good moral in the thread and it would be uncharitable of us to continue to whip Gingertipster any further, lest some unsavoury characters on this forum start taking bets on his well-being.
Finally, to Mark, since you so kindly asked, I leave you with this thought: Fight the Good Fight with All Thy Might; and, taken from the Book of Oliver, Chapter Six, Verse Five: "I am reviewing the situation, can a fella be a villain all his life, I think I’d better start it all again…."
Please Sir, can I have some more…
Cheers
The End

Calm down Onthesteal and put your gloves away.
I am intersted in the plight of many peoples around the world, from Palestine to Zimbabwe, can’t say boxers are one of them though.
I don’t like boxing much but have no objection to people betting on it if they want to. Bookmakers do not bet on which round a boxer becomes unconcious or dies. Anyway, the two protaganists have entered the ring of their own free will, knowing what may happen. A horse has no say, so it’s a different scenario.
I have not stopped betting with Skybet forever, it is only for Cheltenham. It is just a small protest march, looks like just a one man protest march. lol: I will go back to work on saturday, if they’ll have me back.
I doubt if Skybet will have many people betting on this market anyway, betting to 125% in a 9 horse race. Doubt if they would get away with such a poor percentage if they were not the only bookmaker with a market.
Am sure some of you were wondering. If all other bookies did decide to offer odds, my morals would still allow me to bet with them. Not going to cut off my nose to spite my face (though it would probably make me more attractive). But I’d still keep my Skybet ban for starting the market.

Value Is EverythingMarch 12, 2009 at 23:20 #215780I could not find this market on Oddschecker so thought I’d ring them. Am pleased to say that according to the telphonist Skybet are no longer betting on Denman’s finishing position.
The power of theracingforum!
Expect it is market forces.
Though it is now replaced by Barber Shop’s finishing position. I don’t much like them betting on any finishing position, but as the Queen’s horse is a sound animal it is not quite the issue it was with Denman.
May be now I can resume betting with them.

That was to be my banker for tomorrowMarch 12, 2009 at 23:49 #215793Just out of interest what would the reaction be if the question were:
Is betting on Cerium being pulled up immoral?

A 1/2000 chance not to finish.
You could say Rob, it is immoral to run the horse.
If a jockey has to pull a horse up if no chance of getting in the money; why is it o.k. to run? You could say every other horse could fall (or not finish); but by that rule no horse should be pulled up until the first 6 (or whatever) are over the last.
