Happy retirement to Terrefort. Worrying when he pulled up lame (and apparently bleeding from the nose) in the Denman Chase in Feb but he’s still with us and was officially retired yesterday.
Also Ballyoptic, who was retired after refusing in the Grand National. Seems to have been around forever. He’s going off to live at his owners’ son’s place where Ballyfitz is enjoying his retirement.

Happy retirement to him even though he delivered one of my most painful memories as a punter when he chinned Bellshill on the line in the novice hurdle at Aintree. I was on Bellshill at 10/1 and he looked like the winner everywhere in the race until a mistake at the last robbed him of momentum and handed Ballyoptic his big chance.
I will get over it one day.

April 16, 2021 at 19:42 #1536802A lot of my old faves getting pensioned off. At least they’ve got there. Hopefully they all have long and loved ones
April 18, 2021 at 13:47 #1537050Just announced on ITV that Theinval has been retired after today’s victory at Ayr. Wishing him a long and happy retirement.
April 18, 2021 at 16:21 #1537116Great to see Theinval going out on a win.

Some good news at the end of a bittersweet day.
Hope he enjoys a long retirement.
April 18, 2021 at 23:46 #1537179Absolutely delighted to see him bow out on one piece Patriots
Down at Hexham in December 2013, and I bet him against the AP ridden odds on hotpot Regal Encore.
Absolute silence as they came home, with the exception of me jumping about like a madman.
That was it, and followed him closely ever since (and good old Regal Encore too). Loads of highlights since then, but he probably saved the best till last, and his win at Sandown in January, in The Veterans Final was fantastic.
Just an amazing horse, and probably the horse that really put Sandy Thomson on the map.
April 19, 2021 at 21:23 #1537255Vtc him and old Harry the Viking , looking at his horses he has plenty fire power to go to war with next season and no doubt they,ll be 1 or 2 owners willing to send a soured horse his way , I’ll be interested to see what they do with the ferry master next , didn’t quite stay the 4 miles , wonder if they,d have a go in the Ladbrokes trophy ?
April 25, 2021 at 17:07 #1537929It was good that Seeyouatmidnight finally got in the big race win that had always eluded him before his second retirement.
Nicky Richards’ talented 11 year-old mare My Old Gold was retired after finishing 3rd at Perth on Friday. She beat Cloth Cap giving him 5lbs back in December 2019. She is to be covered by Walk In The Park. Wishing her a long and happy retirement.
April 25, 2021 at 18:55 #1537941Nick Alexander has announced the retirement of Ted Veale. Kit Alexander had intended to ride him this season but was denied the chance for much of the term as amateurs were not able to compete. Ted Veale won 11 out of 68 races, second in 10, third in another 16 and won just over £287,000 in prize money.
April 29, 2021 at 17:52 #1538588I’m really pleased to see that old Ted Veale has been retired. I used to follow him closely a few years ago. He was a good horse on his day.
April 29, 2021 at 22:26 #1538655Colreevy was retired after her Punchestown victory. A real shame we won’t be seeing her next season given how she has progressed, but she is already in foal to Walk In The Park. Wishing her a long and happy retirement.
