Sad sad sad for Rewilding.Sad sad to see Joseph all at sea on SNA.Sad to see my bet go out the window as Joseph checked to see where Frankie was and let the race get away.Kieren Fallon or Johnny Murtagh were sorely missed by Ballydoyle. No Tabor,Smith money coming in for SNA.That tells it all.

Very touching and very sad indeed!
July 23, 2011 at 18:07 #365553What did Joseph do wrong….the race was a complete farce. A Joke and changed permantely my view of the Sport. Its not a sport its a part time sport. No pace, Horse died and the SNA had to have a true gallop to win today.
Johnny Murtagh was useless today at Newmarket, did you see the rides he gave some of his mounts. It was disgusting.
All and all it was a farcical day of racing and just another high profile blow out when the so called sport tries to publisize its self.
The general public today will have seen enough after that. I am sickened
July 23, 2011 at 21:06 #365573Lost at sea.Time for a professional decision,Nobody to make it.A slow pace and the galloper waits.Waiting for what? I don’t know.Better wait some more,Ryan is waiting.Whoops Frankie just fell. Better get out of here. But where will I go? Better go up the inside. No, better wait and see.But the race is over.S**t.Takes time to learn.
July 23, 2011 at 21:19 #365575This may be the most disappointing thread ever on The Racing Forum.
Andyod…I am sorry if you have been the victim of nepotism…I can find no other explanation of your continued irrational and poorly contructed arguements against the promising and blameless Joseph O’Brien.
Ruby… your posts are generally entertaining and illuminating but what on earth are we to draw from your bizarre conclusions today? Firstly what could ‘the Sport’ have done to avoid your displeasure? Michael Stoute might have run Confront. Ballydoyle might have run Memphis Tennesee but the ‘Sport’ was not responsible for an unfortunate race.
A very good horse died, another Workforce ran strangely (may have been injured) and SNA lived up to his already enigmatic reputation. The winner may just be very good, there is a lot in his profile to suggest this and very little that would discount it.A sad and unfortunate day but the impulse to apportion blame or draw wide conclusions is too much surely?
July 23, 2011 at 22:34 #365584Many people like to offer their opinion.I do for one.I feel that when a jockey rides a horse he in entitled to be critisized for his riding. When a Trainer puts a jockey up he is entitled to be critisized. This is public entertainment for goodnessake. All involved at the highest level are amply rewarded for their success.Growing up in Ireland one learns to be objective around horses and jockeys. My opinion of Joseph as a jockey is simply that he is an apprentice; no more and no less.To use an apprentice at the highest level is to court disaster.Parents let love overrule their better judgement some times.(Remember Paddy Mullins and Dawn Run and the brave Mrs Hill and JJ O’Neill and Tony Mullins?)They will learn also that there is a price to be paid for such indiscretions.Having read about Rory McElroy, that lesson is important.Parents learn hands off ’till after the battle.Would any other trainer call on Joseph to ride their horse in a Group One race? That is the answer right there. If as Chris McGrath said in the Independent yesterday wealthy patrons can run their horses for fun, then we unwealthy fans can become critics for fun.
July 23, 2011 at 22:57 #365587I never bet on a 4 legged animal again.
I just can’t do it morally its now becoming against my mindset that i have slowly been coming around too.
While most will think I talking complete nonsense. This event has just broken the camel’s back that a race as high profile as this could be such a farce.
Don’t worry i still be around purely as an analytical mode.
July 24, 2011 at 00:40 #365598Hi Ruby….Are you like me talking out of your pocket because I believe that those around horses take the rough with the smooth better than most.{The vey first horse i got involved with died the very first time he ran.}McCoy has been known to cry when a horse dies at the track but he gets up on the next one nevertheless.
July 28, 2011 at 05:00 #19273Sir Henry Cecil said it all. "The best racehorse I have ever seen." That has been the dream of John Magnier since he started Coolmore. To breed the best race horse ever seen. Now what will he do? Build a better mouse trap and people will come knocking at your door? But can Galileo do more? Why not? Lady Rothschild who bred Nathaniel to win the King George will be coming back to Galileo;so too undoubtedly will Mr.K.Abdulla. The future knows no bounds for this incredible horse. What an achievement for Coolmore. What an achievement for one John Magnier.
July 28, 2011 at 13:29 #19277Just musing but how much would it take to buy Galileo right now? Is it possible to put a price on him?(for insurance) What offer do you think could Michael Tabor not refuse?
July 28, 2011 at 13:53 #366203Its a bit rich to claim the success for Magnier and Coolmore, Granted they used the services of the great Coolmore sire Galileo, but the credit for breeding the great Frahkel surely belongs to Prince Abdullah / Juddmonte.
They chose the stallion to visit with their mare Kind whose bloodline involves both Danehill and Rainbow QuestJuly 28, 2011 at 16:03 #366224Exactly Coggy. And, anyway, I doubt a horse that will go down in every history book, as bred and owned by Prince Khalid Abdullah, is John Magnier’s fulfilled dream as claimed by the OP.

I think you are both wrong the Tsui family bread Sadler’s Wells with there dam Urban sea who has produced two of the most important horses of the 21st century
Sea The Stars
July 28, 2011 at 17:59 #366233Both Abdulla and Magnier can be pleased with the result of the Sussex – Frankel being a top horse. The two camps get on well. I believe they’ve even got an agreement with a lot of Abdulla mares who go to Coolmore stallions; for cheaper fees. One year the foal would be kept by Abdulla, the next by Coolmore.
Although of course Coolmore would rather Canford Cliffs have won on Wednesday.
But to answer the question. What is left for Coolmore?
Coolmore are yet to own a "Great" (in theTimeform
sense of the word)
race
horse. With a Timeform rating of 140 or more.
Coolmore have done well with their horses, winning a lot of top races, yet never done so.
Abdulla has done it twice, in Frankel and Dancing Brave. Godolphin have, in Dubai Millenium.Value Is EverythingJuly 28, 2011 at 18:03 #366234I accept your point about a very good dam royalrock but you seem to be at crossed purposes as my point was relating to who deserved the credit for breeding Frankel

Ohhhh. you are right about that… the prince has invested a lot in Galileo i cant wait to see frankels brother Noble Mission
July 28, 2011 at 22:49 #366278Coolmore are not a racing operation. They are a stallion operation. If you read about the founding of Coolmore it was always about owning stallions. Vincent trained a lot of wonderful horses for many owners. Coolmore started with Sadlers Wells after his racing was done.John Magnier bought horses to be stallions not to race as such.He raced them and if the were good enough off they went to the sales at the beginning to US stud farms but finally he had enough money to keep one,SW.I am talking from memory so the details may need tweeking. But I know for sure that Magnier never wanted to be an owner of winning horses. He wanted to breed horses.J.P.McManus wants to race horses.Tabor and Smith want to race but they are not on a mission to have the best stallions in the world,John is,and he has.
Incidentally. How many great mares does it take to equal one great stallion? And to feed? We are talking Galileo right now. -
