I did not realize that you could get a ban for "Doing your utmost to win" perhaps there was more to it than that.Incidentally I strongly disagree with the stewards second guessing any jockey’s split second riding decisions(except when the rules are broken). Most jockeys would probably do things differently if they had a second chance. In fact that might apply to all of us.
August 18, 2010 at 12:23 #15983Just a couple of observations.
First;with all the love and attention they get the horses seem a bit coddled.By the time they get to the start it seems like they are sweating all over. Not one but all of them.
Second;the Ballydoyle horses seem willing to race without the whip. However Johanny seems determined to whip them.Rip Van Winkle ran beautifully until the whip came out. Then he went first right and then left under a mild discipline. When left alone he strode out again like he enjoys racing. However he lost about half a length trying to avoid the whip. In a tight finish that could be disasterous. Incidentally he won yesterday more easily than the official distane would indicate.September 5, 2010 at 15:33 #16137Factum today at Dundalk ran and won in the colors of Joseph Allen. I wonder who is this new arrival at Ballydoyle?
September 5, 2010 at 17:10 #316016Hi andyod.
Not sure I can assist mate.
There is a Joseph Allen with a couple of horses with Biancone in America.
If I remember correctly there was a chap with the same name who had a horse with Mr Fanshawe.
Not sure if either is the same one now connected with BallydoyleSeptember 5, 2010 at 17:33 #316021There was a H. Joseph Allen who, with the billionaire Peter Grant, owned Just A Game (1980 American Champion Female Turf Horse). She started her career in Ireland.

In 2007 Joseph Allen owned a horse with the Coolmore 3 called US Ranger trained by Jean-Claude Rouget.
Must be the same guy, if anyone remembers him.
September 5, 2010 at 22:25 #316074i think everyone’s right – Factum’s colours match those in this link:
September 5, 2010 at 23:04 #316078Thanks; good to know.
September 6, 2010 at 12:49 #316134He Bred Dynaformer i believe
September 6, 2010 at 15:10 #316159Following up on the leads I got here I found that Michael Tabor bought future Kentuccky Derby winner Thunder Gulch from billioner breeder Peter Brant a close associate of Joseph Allen.Incidentally I believe I also noticed the Niarchos name reappearing on the ownership of a Ballydoyle horse recently.
September 8, 2010 at 15:10 #16161I read in the Racing Post yesterday that Godolfin are still chasing their first Group One winner in the US for this year. How are they doing in Europe? Since they buy whatever they want at the sales surely they should be winning lots of group races.Do their people have to justify spending? I am always amazed at the Group One winners that Coolmore buy at auction.I suppose they buy for breeding as well as for racing.
September 8, 2010 at 15:22 #316478We thought Godolphin was improving late last season but they are still in the same rut.
The Breeding of the Horse’s is not a problem its the "Godolphin Training Operation". If they left them all with Fabre/Cecil and Stoute they would be right back up their with the best.
It simply can’t continue with this paltry success. The problem is everything is being aimed to make Dubai a World Center for Racing. A break up of Godolphin would finish all the investment in Maydan etc. It really is a very poorly run operation IMO. Their is simply no direction or business model to make it competitive.
Its just a black hole of money that is swalloning vast sums.
Their nearest neighbour’s prince Abdullah is doing a superb job.September 8, 2010 at 15:57 #316491Agree with the comment above, in order to truly have the success the set up warrants, they should put up big money to get a top quality trainer. Personally think Noseda would do a magnificent job if given the opportunity, but never going to happen.

… and of course they had their best years while Noseda was around as "advisor" (actually trainer). I don’t think he could be tempted back. Enjoys his independence too much. Quality not cash.
September 13, 2010 at 01:40 #16205Rumor has it that he was seen working after races at the Curragh on Sunday. Rumor has it that Aidan and Johanny were very pleased with the piece of light work he did. That is only a rumor.Confirm or deny?

Not a rumour Andy. What might be a rumour but I doubt it is that he’s been working and pleasing them for sometime now.
My advice would be that tf you find AOB announces Cape Blaco will go for the Breeders as Rip Van Winkle most definitely won’t, don’t rush to back him , back SNA for the Champion Stakes.
September 29, 2010 at 13:34 #16336I was told that Aidan keeps as many as possible in a race right up to the final declarations as a security procedure. If we don’t know which will run or which they fancy the most it is impossible to "get to" the right one without "getting to" all.The way some big race favs(Not Ballydoyle) have been running this year one wonders about their performance.
