‘Took it a bit easy’ is an understatement

To be honest I haven’t seen enough of the jockey to say whether that was all he was capable of or whether he hadn’t gone for everything. Either way, the horse didn’t get one smack whereas McCoy was riding Captain Cee Bee out with everything he had. With McNamara on Jumbo Rio, the whole set up screams ‘The Real Article Galway Hurdle’!! If only I had the foresight of KF to take the price on that race beforehand

Fire Lily was very impressive. To be honest I thought Zip Top would have been clear favorite but Fire Lily really toughed it out at the business end of the race. Zip Top missed the break and was always struggling.

Anyway, I made a profit for the day so I guess I can’t complain too much! :?

    Any Galway fancies Nathan?

To be fair to me I’ve been out all day and was winding on Sky+ in between the Curragh races and only press play on that particular race just before the final jump so didn’t know how hard of a race Real Article had before but the finish was ‘a

    little

    poor’….

Not had a look yet at Galway Tommy, don’t think I’ve ever had a bet on a race there in fact.

He looked to be travelling better than Cee Bee approaching the last but McCoy hadn’t really gone for his horse either at that stage. As I said if you switched the jockeys I’d say we’d have seen a different result!

There’s a first time for everything Nathan, although I expect your attention will more than likely be focused on Goodwood

Due to work I haven’t even seen a race from Galway or Goodwood all week, but luckily from a pun ting perspective the best is saved for last as Truckers Delight runs in a handicap chase off 9-9

I think he’s very well handicapped and hopefully he’ll show why today.

    €25 e/w Truckers Delight @ 5/1 (Ladbrokes)

Truckers Delight won handy, returning a profit of €156.25

    – €2.90

It seems a profit for the summer is not beyond the realms of possibility! :o

Thanks lads, hopefully this is the turning point!

Quality racing today at home and abroad. At the Curragh I expect Banimpire to be too stubborn to let Dunboyne Express past her. At the weights Dunboyne Express should give her plenty to think about imo but I think her will to win will prove too much. Teolane is worth an e/w punt to leave her Royal Ascot run behind her. I think it says a lot that she hasn’t run since as Bolger usually has them out every other week. perhaps he knows there’s something special about this one :?: Also fancy Tough As Nails. He has close form with both Power and Lilbourne Lad, and every drop of rain that falls will help his cause, because we know he handles it. He should be bang there at the finish.

    Banimpire €30 win @ 8/11

    Teolane €5 e/w @ 6/1

    Tough As Nails €5 e/w @ 14/1

Banimpire won @ 4/5, returns profit of €24

Teolane disappointed once again, finishing last. – €10

Tough As Nails 3rd, returns profit of €9

    + €20.10

First time I’ve been in profit for a while! :D

Serious racing in Deauville today. I love Goldikova but today I think she’s too short facing a number of high quality horses. The one I’m interested in is Planteur back over a mile. He should handle the ground and the way he travels in his races gives me hope that he’ll handle the drop in trip.

Salute Him ran in a cracker in last year’s Ebor off 105. Today he runs off a mark of 100 and at 28/1 is a tasty each way price. His runs so far this year have not been up to much but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was to rediscover the old spark today. It looks a hot race with 5 places e/w 1/4 odds I can’t resist a punt.

    Salute Him €5 e/w @ 28/1, 1/4 odds, 5 places

Haven’t had a bet in a while, with 5 bets today it seems I’m making up for lost time.

€7.50 e/w Bewitched @ 11/1. I backed her in the Golden Jubilee where she pulled a muscle and I’m willing to give her another chance. Looks a wide open contest and was fav last time. 11/1 yes please.

€10 win Viscount Nelson @ 6/4. Another who I’ve backed this year, when he won a Group 3 two runs back. Was disappointing last time in the States but I think it’s probably best to forget that in terms of today’s race. Mutahadee is a worthy opponent but Viscount wasn’t far off Group 1 class last year and should be a shorter price imo.

€5 win Recital @ 16/1. Was seemingly Ballydoyle’s main Derby horse but things didn’t work out over there. The 3yo’s are doing quite well this year so it would be no surprise to see him cause an upset. The lack of a recent run is the only concern.

€15 e/w Emulous @ 9/2. Bet of the day, just can’t see her out of the frame. When she won at the Curragh earlier this year DKW and Pat Smullen could hardly contain their excitement. Together is consistent but I don’t think she’s as good as Weld’s filly, but Misty For Me will be very hard to beat if she’s as talented as she looked when beating Midday. Been waiting for Emulous for a while and have a feeling this is her day.

€5 e/w Elyaadi @ 16/1. Another who I backed earlier in the year, when 2nd at Ascot. She’s got more class than all of these and I think she’ll be able handle giving weight away to the whole field. Should be single figures imo.

    – €79.90

Bewitched…didn’t seem to the the gaps when she needed them but it made no difference because she just wasn’t good enough. A return to 7f will perhaps see her in a better light.

    Viscount Nelson…last :?

    Recital…last :?

Emulous…looked like the filly I thought she could be yesterday, slaughtered the 3yo’s yesterday. + €111

Elyaadi…was given a poor ride imo. About third last turning in and made rapid progress up the straight to finish 7th, beaten under six lengths. Should have at least placed.

Fame And Glory looks nailed on for Saturday’s Irish St Leger. Was planning on backing him at 5/4 today but with the withdrawal of Opinion Poll I’ve taken the 10/11 still available with Paddy Power. He could go off around the 4/9 mark I’d say.

I’m with Gord when it comes tp the St Leger: the Grand Prix de Paris is the best piece of form in the race. the 10/1 with Ladbrokes is too good to resist!

    €10 e/w Seville @ 10/1 Ladbrokes

    – €28.90

PS Ladbrokes shorteest price on Fame And Glory @ 8/13, do they know?

Cirrus Des Aigles has been showing exceptional form all year, not least when slamming the useful Silver Pond last time out. If he was eligible for the Arc he’d be a leading contender, so it would be disappointing if he can’t win today.

    €10 win Cirrus Des Aigles @ 2/1

    – €38.90
