In the Epsom Dash I unsurprisingly fancy one of Dandy’s. I backed Masta Plasta in this last year, where he was a staying on fifth off a 5lb higher mark. Also, this year, he has 6lbs less on his back, which will be a help. Also, when we see that Captain Dunne is a 6/1 shot, I can’t help but feel that Masta Plasta is value at 25/1. He’s a stone better off with him for a 4 length beating when they met last October. At 8 years of age he’s not getting any younger but at the price he’s well worth a punt imo.
June 4, 2011 at 12:48 #358815Masta Plasta €5 e/w @ 28/1
I like the look of Vadamar in the Derby. Connections seem quietly confident that he can turn the tables with Pour Moi and this race should be run more to suit.
€5 e/w Vadamar @ 16/1
€5 e/w double @ 28/1 & 16/1
– €55.50

June 9, 2011 at 15:29 #359768The Kings Stand looks wide open and SOLE POWER looks the most likely winner imo. If he get’s the fast early pace he needs it’s hard to envisage him out of the places. However, great value lies in MONSIEUR CHEVALIER at 40/1. He was beaten under three lengths on his final start as a 2yo in the Abbaye, but missed his 3yo season through injury. On his reappearance at Windsor he ran a race brimming with promise, he wasn’t given a hard time and should have been placed at the very least.
Monsieur Chevalier €5 e/w @ 40/1 Kings Stand
– €81.50

June 12, 2011 at 22:23 #360375The way he traveled into the straight I thought he would go on and win his race, but for the second time now Ballyhoura has had to settle for 2nd place. SP 5/1.

June 14, 2011 at 12:22 #360624I’m expecting a much improved effort from Wotton Bassett today. The vibes from the stable seem to be very good and in hindsight he did well to finish as close up in the French 2000 Guineas.
€10 e/w Wotton Bassett @ 5/1 without Frankel
Of course, I’m expecting Frankel to win and the double with So You Think looks tasty

€20 win Double Frankel @ 2/5 & So You Think @ 1/2
It’s incredibly tough to split Goldikova and Canford Cliffs, but the reverse forecast looks like it could be the best way to go.
€10 Reverse f/c Goldikova & Canford Cliffs
Zigato is my NAP of the day. He was very impressive last time and the 6lb rise in the handicap won’t be enough to stop him imo.
€20 e/w @ 4/1
That’s the lot, also have Monsieur Chevalier at 40s so happy enough with that

June 16, 2011 at 20:43 #361046Some good racing tomorrow at home and in England. Natural High, Mossey Joe, and The Real Article are of interest on the home front at both Limerick and Down Royal.
It will be very interesting to see if Mossey Joe can defy his handicap rating. I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t go close.
I’ll update the a/c after Royal Ascot, a couple of much needed winners today.
June 17, 2011 at 12:28 #361180Mossey Joe has been very impressive over fences so far and at 11/8 is worth a bet that he can defy his handicap mark. The form of his last race is smart, beating some decent handicappers giving them weight. He’s been good to me so far and I’m hoping his luck will continue today.
Mossey Joe €20 win @ 11/8
Also on the Down Royal card, The Real Article is on something of a recovery mission. I think he’s best watched at 2/1.
At Limerick, it would be no surprise to see Natural High hack up in the last. He found only Donna’s Palm too good in a decent race at Galway last time and the race looks weak enough.
Natural High €10 win @ 9/4
Back to Royal Ascot now: in the Albany Teolane must have a great chance. The ground is an unknown for most of these, and she’s one of them. But, given the fact she’s had three runs already she has more experience than many of her rivals, giving me hope that she’ll be streetwise enough to overcome conditions. Also the soft ground good in fact be a help given that she’ll surely be better over further in time.
Teolane €20 win @ 7/4
In the King Edward VII Stakes Alexander Pope has a big chance. He wasn’t stopping when he beat Moriarty (a horse who I rate highly despite his flop yesterday) last time in the Gallinule. Also, being by Danehill Dancer surely gives him a better chance than many of handling the ground.
Alexander Pope €5 e/w @ 14/1
In the Coronation, I’ve backed both Nova Hawk and Memory. Nova Hawk won a listed race on heavy ground in impressive fashion on her seasonal debut, before running good races in the Guineas and the Pouliches particularly. She should be there or thereabouts. Memory is a filly with bundles of talent but there are two
over her head: will she break evenly, and will she handle the ground. I believe she’s the best filly in the race so have to have an interest in her.Nova Hawk €5 win @ 8/1
Memory €5 win @ 8/1In the Buckingham Palace Stakes Docofthebay should take a hand in the finish. I’m hoping the stands side will once again be the side to be on. The step back up to 7 furlongs should suit and Dandy Nicholls is always dangerous in these big handicaps.
Docofthebay €5 e/w @ 9/1
June 18, 2011 at 12:58 #361399Await The Dawn will be very hard to beat in the Hardwicke. He looks to have huge potential and stable confidence appears to be high. the step up in trip should suit and I’ve a feeling this could be Ryan Moore’s day.
€40 win @ 4/6
In the Golden Jubilee everything seems to have fallen into place for Bewitched in the Golden Jubilee. She’s one of the few who’ll handle underfoot conditions and the ability to stay further than six furlongs could prove a decisive factor.
€20 e/w @ 100/30
Victoire De Lyphar is my selection for the Wokingham. He has been competitive in handicaps recently while on his last start he went off favorite to beat Bated Breath, who is as short as 8/1 to win the Golden Jubilee.
€10 e/w @ 10/1
In the Duke Of Edinburgh Modun could prove hard to beat. He has an entry in the Irish Leger and is a typical ‘group horse masquerading in a handicap’. The ground is an unknown factor but at 4/1 it’s worth taking the chance he’ll handle it.
€10 e/w @ 4/1
June 18, 2011 at 13:23 #361405Also had a 20 cent win Yankee on Await the dawn, Modun, Bewitched and Victoire De Lyphar.
June 18, 2011 at 16:18 #361424Just totted up the balance
– €109.90
Been a bit unlucky lately I think: Mossey Joe slipping on landing; Zigato never given any chance; Bewitched, Victoire De Lyphar and Modum all running miles below their best. But that’s racing. Hopefully my luck will turn soon.
June 18, 2011 at 16:25 #361425€5 e/w Elyaadi
