PHAROH JAKE, who won this race last year off 6lb lower, has since won off this mark on turf. He had the race run to suit and the only problem was getting a clear run in the straight. It took a while, but once he was out in the clear he cut the leaders down in no time at all.

LUNAR DEITY, 5lb higher than when beating a subsequent winner when last seen at Kempton in October, was always travelling like a winner just behind the leaders and produced an impressive turn of foot once unleashed to stride clear. The hat-trick looks a real possibility.
QUOTES Lunar Deity won so well at Kempton (on only his second start on the AW) that we decided to save him for the better races in January, February and March. Unfortunately there´s no race for him before he is reassessed, but he could run at Chelmsford next Sunday – Stuart Williams, trainer.

EVIDENT won under a positive and confident ride. He was perfectly placed when the pace began to collapse and his pilot only went for his whip late on. It was his first success since landing a turf maiden in 2013 and his initial try at sprinting for Tony Carroll, so it could be he has more to offer this winter.

IFITTAKESFOREVER had run well on his first visit here last month, when just beaten by Pancake Day over 6f, and had no problem with the drop to the minimum trip with first-time blinkers added to the eyeshield, picking up nicely to win going away. He can win again back here over either trip.
QUOTES Ifittakesforever got put up 6lb for finishing second here last time so that was a good performance. We might come back here over 5f or 6f, depending what the handicapper does – John Butler, trainer.

COURSING turned this into a procession in her first-time visor and provided his in-form yard with another winner. Well drawn in stall four, she soon assumed control and went further and further clear as Luke Morris went through the gears. This was a huge step up on previous performances, including two runs in handicap company at this track. There should be more to come.
QUOTES Coursing is a filly who has shown plenty at home but not a lot on the course. The first-time blinkers have made all the difference as she gave me a better feel this time – Luke Morris, rider.

SCARBOROUGH justified favouritism with a game display. She bounced out well and, despite coming under the pump nearing the furlong marker, saw it out strongly. A rise may not be enough to stop her next time, as she´s still unexposed on Fibresand, with this taking her course record to 4-6.
QUOTES Scarborough has done that well. She is a nice filly and there is probably still improvement in her. She was probably unlucky in a better race last time. She may come back here then we will probably give her a break for the turf – Mick Appleby, trainer.
