.
Four seasons is already in the notes, and is value for a lot more
Course notes:
FOUR SEASONS didn´t appear to be progressing on turf before posting a clear career-best effort when switched to the AW over 7f at Kempton 17 days ago, pulling clear for a decisive success in a good time. He managed to follow up and probably needs rating a bit higher than the bare form, given he raced widest of all into the straight and took a while to get organised, before picking up well inside the last half furlong to run down the second. He´s now likely to be aimed at the final next April and, given he retains scope, he could well have a bit more improvement in him.

STREET ARTIST returned to form with a bang at Wolverhampton last week and he took the switch in surface in his stride tofollow up in quite stylish fashion.
The top weight was in control of this from the home turn as he travelled strongly on the front end and had all of his rivals in trouble. On this evidence he is quite a well handicapped horse and he could easily go in again even though he will have to go up slightly in grade.Luv U Whatever:

Course Notes:
OREGON GIFT, rated 70 having made the frame in six of his first seven starts, bossed this race from the start and was in little danger once kicking clear off the final bend, giving his yard a very welcome winner. He is relatively exposed, but should win more races now that he has got his head in front.
Quotes:
Trainer Mark Johnston: Oregon Gift has run into some nice ones and I thought that might be the case again today, but we were chasing a Racing Post bonus rather than go for a nursery, which might have made more sense, and he´s won one now. He´ll have a break and be gelded now.

Course notes:
SHOTGUN START, strongly supported on his handicap debut, bagged a prominent early position and responded to pressure in the straight to go clear. It´ll be a surprise if there isn´t more to come from him, and his trainer suggested he´d return here for a 7f handicap next Friday.
Quotes:
Michael Wigham, trainer of Shotgun Start: He was physically immature. We ran him a few times and he didn´t produce what we thought he could, so we shut him down and gave him time. He has strengthened up now and he has been working okay. He´s a late developer and we´re lucky that he has a patient owner who let him have the time to come to himself. That was not a top handicap but it will help his confidence and I hope he will eat up and run again next week as there is a 7f race here next Friday and he will probably come back for that.

Course notes:
STELLARTA, back up in trip, had not raced on the AW since a couple of placed efforts over CD on her first two starts in 2013. She was still going well when asked for her effort passing the 2f pole, finding plenty once in front to win with something to spare. She´s open to a bit more improvement on this surface and will get another furlong.Another horse that needs a mention is
Shirley’s Pride
(4.35 Wolverhampton).
Course notes:
SHIRLEY´S PRIDE came steadily clear and won her first race since the spring of 2013. She had managed only one place in five previous AW appearances, but had run into trouble behind the re-opposing Give Us A Belle last week in her first-time cheek pieces and was enjoying a 6lb pull. Confidence will be boosted and she could be the type to run up a sequence in low-grade handicaps this winter.

MYMATECHRIS, who had a wind operation before he won comfortably at Kempton last time, defied a 6lb rise with considerable ease. The decent gallop suited him, he travelled well in behind and, when asked to go on, scooted clear of his rivals. He´s clearly well ahead of his mark and will surely have to make a quick reappearance under a penalty (he´s in at Kempton next Monday) as the handicapper will not take kindly to this.

Course notes:
BALTIC PRINCE, carrying a 6lb penalty, but already due to go up a further 2lb, got the lead early on and was never headed. He went further clear in the straight when asked the question and essentially looked well in front of the handicapper here. Things have really clicked into place for him of late and, entered again at Wolverhampton on Saturday, he would hold every chance under a penalty.
Notes: The going allowance for
Deauville
yesterday was again off the charts at
+0.65s/f
(very fast),
Dave Edwards
had the going allowance at
+0.60s/f

December 5, 2014 at 11:12 #497446Hi Mike,
Just quickly scanning your posts I saw reference to a likelihood of more "plots" this season and also a reference to garbage being offered at Kempton.
How is the season progressing for you in general and your improvers?
In general, I think that any of us who post in the "tipping and research" should be expected to account for our sins and omissions…hope you agree.

In general, I think that any of us who post in the "tipping and research" should be expected to account for our sins and omissions…hope you agree. The improver’s this season compared to past two seasons are not doing that good, but that’s what I expected.
With the prize money available for the good Friday gig, getting good handicap marks will be the order of the day.
The majority of the improver’s I have mentioned, started favourite on their next starts and didn’t bother the judge

The sh*t will certainly hit the fan when
Chelmsford City
joins the fold, and I expect to see a high percentage of the final day qualifiers come from there.
On a bright note, the speed figures are performing well enough, and I will be compiling speed figures for
Chelmsford City
from day one.

The weight carrying performance of
Anonymous John
in the 2yo nursery at
Wolverhamton (5.30)
certainly caught the eye, the speed figure of
70
he earned, shot him to the top of the AW Championship 2yo ratings.
The 2yo maiden at Lingfield (12.30) was above average, and the first 3 home
Dreamlike
,
Zamora
and
Never Change
should be noted.

I took a look at yesterdays Lingfield sectional times provided by
Turtrax
, and converted the sectional times to finishing speeds expressed as a % of average race speed using Simon’s (Timeform) formula – (T*d*100)/(D*t), where "T" is overall race time, "t" is sectional time, "D" is overall race distance and "d" is sectional race distance.
TurfTrax
implies an optimum final 2f finishing speed % of
98.3
of overall race speed.

So working on the proviso the nearer to
98.3%
the better, the 01.30 won by
Johnny Splash
was the top form race at the meeting, which was confirmed by my speed figures, compared against his official rating of
65
.
