Crazy how much better Notebook has looked over fences that hurdles, however, Moon Over Germany’s isn’t probably consistent enough. Once or twice he’s shown himself to be decent.
Mount Pelier in third looked good on debut, but this trip has probably caught him out.25/1 though is a decent price FF. Is he classy enough? It might be an average enough Arkle though.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!November 19, 2019 at 09:27 #1475338Agree with FinalFurlong91. Notebook was electric over fences and 25/1 is way too big. Have added Notebook to my Laurina 14/1.
November 19, 2019 at 10:16 #1475340There doesn’t look to be anything close to a douvan or altior this year so far and the English novices look a very poor crop
At the prices he just looked worth a few pennies, probably wont be the best of these in the long run but might be come march
November 25, 2019 at 13:07 #1475856Watched the Laurina race back again; she was very impressive. Even if the trip was too short for Minella Indo, she still made it look very easy. Townend barely moved on her at all. The big question is will she come here or The JLT. Judging by the interview with Mullins after the race he said Townend thinks she needs 2 and a half. I have her at 14/1 for this and I reckon I’ll just cash it in now; can double my money with it; don’t fancy spending the next 3 months thinking about where she might go.
November 25, 2019 at 14:36 #1475864I would hold fire for the moment. I think she will come here. But alot will depend on how melon gets on when stepped up in trip.
I think he will spilt them up. If melon flops I think she could well go JLT. Which is shaping to be a very strong race with Samcro and black opt
November 25, 2019 at 14:39 #1475866Cash Back ran really well in his Beginners Chase at Navan; he also rates Tornado Flyer fairly high as well although his Beginners Chase win was a bit laboured.
November 25, 2019 at 16:41 #1475875I mentioned earlier in the thread that I’d found it difficult to identify anything in the Supreme to enthuse about over fences and little had changed.
Thomas Darby has been very disappointingNovember 25, 2019 at 19:56 #1475888Too right, The form seems to get worse. Unlike the JLT. Im still very happy to keep FAKIR DOUDAIRES though, I feel he has a great deal of pace for this and ill be interested in his next run. Nothing from the English trainers yet for me. I did like the chase debut of BREWIN’UPASTORM. It was suggested he wasn’t that ready for a run, Yet still won and showed a good pace, 2nd and 3rd have gone on to run creditable runs since aswell. At this moment in time i would say id have a bit of each way on him.
December 1, 2019 at 17:42 #1476334I think we saw the Arkle winner today in Fakir D’Oudairies. His jumping was superb and he has gears, for sure. He was taking two lengths out of the field at each fence with his jumping. Whether Samcro would have won, we will never know but it is highly likely Samcro will go for the JLT. I think Fakir will come here and I haven’t seen anything yet that would trouble him.
December 1, 2019 at 18:00 #1476335He is as good if not better than footpad was as a jumper
The big question for him to answer is what effect not getting the 8lb allowance will have
December 2, 2019 at 07:26 #1476366Fakir D’Oudairies jumped lovely yesterday and looks a very good two miler. Although i thought Samcro was travelling better before he fell.
The current 8 pounds weight allowance is massive, and he wont get this at the festival which is a big negative.
I think giving 7 pounds to Laurina will be tough if she turn up here
December 2, 2019 at 10:38 #1476368Fakir getting 8 lb at the moment will have to give Laurina 7lb on the day. Lovely jumper and all but such a pity Samcro fell. Samcro was travelling strongly but the fences slowed Samcro down relative to Fakir, who was jumping like a rabbit so it would have been very interesting to see who would have won that race. Wouldn’t be put off Samcro for JLT either. Probably a bit short to be getting stuck in now and his jumping will need to improve.
December 2, 2019 at 18:54 #1476395I really think ANGELS BREATH has gone under the radar for this 12/1 is a good price, Ill say now i dont think LAURINA will go to the arkle id imagine the Jlt, FAKIR wont have the allowances either
December 3, 2019 at 08:54 #1476428Is Angels Breath a likely runner here?
I’d say Laurina is as likely to come here at the JLT. Mullin’s 2 milers seem thin on the ground quality wise.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 3, 2019 at 09:06 #1476429Very early in the season to be talking about Mullins runners. Mullins best Novice last season didn’t appear until March; he’s never in a rush to get his best horses out. I would say Mullins has a potentially fantastic novice Chase team this season across all distances; as of the end of November so far we have seen winning debuts from Laurina, Faugheen, Stormy Ireland (all be it over hurdles), Carefully Selected, Salsaretta, Cash Back, Tornado Flyer and Royal Rendezvous. Melon was a close 2nd conceding 8 lbs to a horse who has won a grade 1 since. There’ll be more out for beginners Chases between now and Xmas also.
As far as 2 milers go I think Cash Back looked very good. It’s too early to be thinking about festival targets but I’d like to see Laurina in the Xmas Grade 1 over 2 mile 1 at Leopardstown.
Tornado Flyer struggled to win his beginners Chase and the horse he beat by half a lenght, Choungaya, has since been stuffed by Salsaretta and Galvin so Tornado Flyer needs a lot of improvement if he’s going to be a Grade 1 horse.
December 3, 2019 at 15:03 #1476445Laurina doesn’t have the boot to keep up with Fakir over 2 mile IMO.
Angels Breath for me has questions over his resolution. He didn’t knuckle down fully when off the bridle last year and Shantou has had a few types like that.Outwith Fakir, Nube Negra has been very impressive to my eye. Should learn more on Saturday if he runs, but he’s still a big price for this.
December 3, 2019 at 15:35 #1476446Vautour i’m on a slow half hour, who was the novice chaser than appeared in March that turned out to be the best?
Tornado did make a bad mistake there to be fair to him.
