Did exactly the same!
November 19, 2017 at 17:32 #1327698I can only think my mental aberration is to do with footpads hiding behind tombstones in the dead of night before pouncing on victims. It’s like taking the wrong turn the first time you go somewhere and never getting it right afterwards. I’ll try to take more care in future!
November 19, 2017 at 18:45 #1327717Brelade’s performance today perhaps also a question mark against the value of Footpad’s debut
November 19, 2017 at 19:11 #1327722I assumed you were referring to River Wylde, SC.
This year’s Arkle and JLT could be more fascinating than ever as, even though at this moment i have Footpad as the most likely winner, there’s no obvious Supreme champion ( unlike most renewals ) and most top yards have at least one candidate which they’ll believe has a decent chance of winning in such an open year.
Think back to the year Contraband won and there were 19 runners.
November 19, 2017 at 19:25 #1327724Anyone know when Tizzard plans to start Pingshou off?
November 20, 2017 at 01:03 #1327761He said after Christmas.
November 20, 2017 at 08:04 #1327763I have to say gents that I’m not overly taken by anything for this race thus far.
As someone has mentioned, the Supreme wasn’t vintage last year and with Lanark retired and Melon hurdling, the only other big name is Pingshou.
Of the runners we have seen so far possibly Petit Mouchoir might have looked half decent but that’s it.
The best engine lies firmly with Finians Oscar but his lazy racing style looks absolutely made for the JLT before fighting for open age 3 mile honours next season.
It’s a case of sit and wait for me at the moment I think.
November 21, 2017 at 22:12 #1327963BHA handicapper only raises North Hill Harvey 1lb – am I going mad?
And he puts the hyped hurdler Thomas Campbell up 10 to 158! World’s upside down!
November 22, 2017 at 00:12 #1327975No SC,time will tell, that to me was an excellent display by a novice around there.
He excelled in conditions that many on the day could not handle.
The time was a couple seconds behind fox norton (169),suggesting decent gallop at the very least.
Not even in december and plenty hats already in the ring, with plenty no doubt waiting in the wings.
Lets hope they all get there, easily the race I am looking forward to the most, at this early stage.

For the record grass, I think the plan is to stay hurdling with Pingshou.
November 22, 2017 at 11:27 #1328001My mistake on North Hill Harvey. For some reason I thought he’d run off 148 on Sunday when it was 149. No change until next Tuesday.

From Tizz stable tour:
A big horse who threw a splint a while ago but is back in full work now, although he’s a month behind. The idea is to see if he’s good enough for the Champion Hurdle, so he’ll take in a trial or two, maybe the Fighting Fifth or the International Hurdle, and if we see he’s not up to that level he’ll go novice chasing instead. He’s a good horse who did plenty in what was only his first season. He won a Grade 1 and was placed in another, so he should be able to build on that. I don’t think he’d mind soft ground
November 22, 2017 at 16:21 #1328042Thanks Joe, I didn’t know that.
November 23, 2017 at 00:17 #1328134He has suffered a setback however, and won’t be out until around Christmas time. With Tizzard already playing catch-up with him this season, I think the plan to go novice chasing may be put on the back foot entirely, regardless of how is hurdling goes.
“He has had a bit of a setback. He has had a niggling little splint injury and he has just been feeling it all the time,”“That’s why he has not been seen out yet. We just needed to do something with it and we have.
“It will be Christmas time now before he is out but he has got to get fit first.”
November 27, 2017 at 11:31 #1329015Brain Power get’s his chasing career underway at Kempton this afternoon in a race he really should be hacking up in. He’s best priced 16/1 for the Arkle now and looks to be Henderson’s contender for that this year so I wouldn’t put anyone off taking that price now looking at the likely opposition come March. I’m not one for taking ante-post prices about a horse that’s never faced a fence but if he takes to the obstacles, he should win head in chest today and move on towards the Wayward Lad back at the same course next month. That seems quite likely given he’s starting off at Kempton and his trainer claimed the Wayward Lad with his subsequent Arkle winners Sprinter Sacre, Simonsig and Altior.
November 27, 2017 at 18:46 #1329086He was alright today, although stablemate Burrows Edge looks “ a bad ‘un “. Doesn’t want to lead at all.
Brain Power hasn’t finished outside the first two when going right handed in Britain. Two no shows at Cheltenham, though two runs isn’t conclusive. 2 1/2 possibly more suitable at the top level.
November 27, 2017 at 20:43 #1329107I think the Brain looks like he has bundles of pace and I’d be pretty sure he’d go for the Arkle if he makes it to Cheltenham. He’s said to have a sound excuse for the poor show in the Champion Hurdle and by all accounts David Mullins couldn’t contain his excitement afterwards.
I had a little bit of money on him at 12/1 for Arkle glory straight after the race. I see he’s no better than 10s now.
