410 Shutterbug looks likely to go off a warm favourite for this but dropping to the minimum after decent runs over 7F and 6F may not be ideal. Miss Toldyaso has a couple of placed efforts over C&D and shouldn’t be far away. The two that interest me are Mi Sun Donk and Juarla. Mi Sun Donk showed its first bit of form LTO behind Slatey Hen and if improving from that will be in the shake up. Preference however is for Juarla who didn’t do too badly over C&D behind Wolf Slayer two runs back.
540 Albertus Pictor seems to be a warm order here but on a line through Archie Rice would seem to have it all to do against Bold Adventure based on 12F at Lingfield. BA has done all of its winning over further so I’m ruling him out. Kiama Bay would have a chance on its run over C&D in November but followed that with a stinker over 2F further later in the month. That leaves Straversjoy who has won 4 times over C&D since September and whose style of running suggests the handicapper may not have caught up with him yet. Outsider of the 4 and drifting will do for me !

640 It took John Potts 33 runs to get off the mark but he seems to have got the hang of it now. No surprise if he were to win again. Sopran Nan shaped reasonably well on its debut in this country and if money were to come would be of interest. I’m chancing an EW shout for Fortunate Bid to build on its encouraging run LTO over C&D behind Pie Poudre.
710 Cane Cat has been running consistently down at Kempton but is still a maiden after 18 starts so I’m leaving her alone. Top weight Guildenstern is a C&D winner and pops up every now and agian and could well do so tonight against this modest bunch. Polemica is closely matched with Cane Cat and is dropping down the handicap , however she is yet to be placed. I’m going to take an EW chance on Kanace on his first run for J Pearce. Third of 16 in May at Bath over 8F and had a recentish run over too far in November.
Best of Luck
January 6, 2011 at 20:42 #334911Nice piece of work, Aaron.
January 7, 2011 at 13:54 #334963Cheers Max. Wolves has been pretty kind to me this last couple of weeks. Just 3 races tonight
510 This is a tricky one as I quite like the look of a few. The favourite Lord Lansing popped up LTO at 50’s in a claimer. That was it’s first bit of half decent form and he is 10lb well in but I’m willing to oppose this evening. Tres Froide has been reasonably consistent over the course without getting his head in front and should be thereabouts but may find one or two infront again. Mr Maximas ran OK two runs back against Indian Violet before a slightly disappointing run LTO behind Querido. On a line through Querido would seem to have a bit to find with Tres Froide The two I have been mulling over are Fastinthestraight and Mouchez. Fastinthestraight finished behind MM in its last run but showed its first glimpse of ability. Only its fifth run tonight and could step up on its previous form. The one I am plumping for however at a good EW price is Mouchez. He seemed to be getting the hang of things LTO over 10F at Lingfield and at 20/1+ will carry my money EW
540 There has been money for topweight Billy Red but I feel this one is just a bit high in the weights although to be fair a small field where he can dominate is right up his street. Lujeanie has been running well and tries Wolves for the first time and if taking to it should go close but I’m going for Methaaly who goes really well over C&D and gets on well with his 7lb claimer.
Good Luck

With plenty of rain around recently, Southwell will probably ride much faster than it has of late, and I can see
Finn’s Rainbow (2.20), 11/10
and
Ingleby King (3.50), 6/4
both struggling with the very different conditions than they won their last races on.
Not that I’d be laying anything, you understand, just think these 2 should be avoided.January 11, 2011 at 06:09 #335397Mr Reet, it’s been as dry as the Gobi desert in August round here and colder than a witch’s ear. Not sure it’s going to be all that fast. I walked the course last week. Parts of it make Laytown look like Bath in June.
Elusive Warrior
in the last to beat the Dore and Smart horses.
