The thought of playing matches side by side early on did cross my mind but it’s probably logistically impossible at the current venue and unfair on lower ranked players put on at the same time as a top seed.
Agree that Greaves should not be in the PL at this stage. Sky and the PDC should be wary of throwing her in at the deep end. She is still young and needs to be allowed time to develop if she feels she needs it. I recall they had ‘guest’ players in the PL each week a while back. If they could work that back into it then she would deserve a spot as one of those. I don’t find the current format particularly exciting to be honest. The same matchups week in week out become stale. It’s a big cash cow though as I understand it.
The jury is out on male advantage for me. If anything it’s probably hand-eye coordination that you mention and maybe being able to throw harder. I personally don’t think height comes into it. I don’t know exact heights but Taylor and Littler both look fairly short by male standards, van Veen is very tall and Hood who performed well appears tiny. I believe Greaves is around 6′ which is obviously tall for a woman. Also historically darts was a pub game and therefore played in a male dominated environment but there are now darts clubs cropping up which will hopefully give more girls the chance to pick it up. Change will be slow as it is in life.
