5/1jf with Wholestone + WA?
January 29, 2017 at 20:49 #1284625What price do you think DD should be out of interest guys ?
13/2, 7/1
Perhaps 6/1.
Behind Wholesome in the betting imo
January 29, 2017 at 22:28 #1284666Death Duty deserves to be favourite; after all he’s a grade 1 winner who’s undefeated over obstacles and won very impressively last time out. But being untested at the trip and on a whole better ground 9/4 is just a bit shorter than he should be at this time. 3/1 would be fairer.
January 30, 2017 at 09:45 #1284725I still think West Approach has the beating of Wholestone over 3 miles off level weights. Only beaten 1/2 length when giving 3ib and lacking race fitness over course and distance in October lest we forget. The worry is that connections would rather have a crack at the Stayers.
Stop panicking about that Charles…West approach will definitely stay the novice route this year.
Same connections who ran their horse in a King George and not the Feltham though…
Yes and thats not been proven as the greatest idea now has it?…
Oh, come on. He won a better, more valuable race easily.
Ridiculous to start questioning their race management now that he’s been beaten by a very good horse. Don Cossack fell in the King George but still won the Gold Cup. Imperial Commander’s first win of the season was a Gold Cup.
I backed Wholestone some time ago and he’s now won two very good trials for this race – the Bristol Hurdle and the Trials Day race – and i hope they send Let’s Dance to the Neptune. I’d be more concerned about her than Death Duty.

I was going to open this up to the forum to see peoples thoughts on this. Let’s Dance was very impressive on the weekend but is a step up to 3m on the cards? Ran a credible 4th in the triumph last year
January 30, 2017 at 12:47 #1284756Bit surprised to see her potentially running over 3m, but she’s got a couple of other races she could go for. She’d be a concern but she has stamina to prove.
January 30, 2017 at 15:01 #1284776Have her at 33s for the Neptune so was devastated when Ricci seemed to be hinting at Albert Bartlett. They have 4 really good Novice Mares in the Mullins yard; Airlie Beach, Asthuria, Augusta Kate and Let’s Dance. they cant all go to the Mares Novice; it seems Augusta Kate and lets Dance need a bit of a trip and The mares Novice is 2 mile 1F, I think which will suit Airlie Beach. In fact that would be my banker of the festival if she turns up there.
They have Vroum Vroum or Limini for The Mares Hurdle so I think Augusta Kate and Lets Dance are Neptune/Albert Bartlett targets. Was hoping it would be Lets Dance Neptune and Augusta Kate Albert Bartlett but I heard somewhere Augusta Kate could miss the festival and go to Aintree.
Does Ricci have any obvious entry for the Neptune? I cant think of any as good as Let’s Dance? Turcagua, Koshari, Fullham Road etc are nowhere near good enough and I think Senewalk has been put away for the year but I’m not sure if that was confirmed..
January 30, 2017 at 15:48 #1284792Totally agree with the airlie beach comment, she is my banker if she turns up, have been piling onto airlie beach since she stormed away the other month, theyv nodded the supreme as a possibillity but with melon, cilaos emery, chateu conti etc i personally feel ittl be the mares novice or nothing, and the supreme club seemed happy that they had a favourite for a chelt race
wheres francin for ricci supposed to be heading triumph? Or neptune, cant remember
January 30, 2017 at 15:51 #1284794Think Ricci has Bapaume for the Triumph

Senewalk defo been put away to retain novice status for next year

She’ll run in the Mares or the Neptune, i reckon. Must be very long odds against that she runs in the Albert Bartlett, even if Ricci did mention it. No such nonsense from Mullins.
I’m hoping that they decide they have other options for the Mares’ races and that she has more than enough experience to run in the Neptune
January 31, 2017 at 17:34 #1285003LOL Wholestone’s beaten him THREE times, who the hell cares about the ratings? You seriously thought that was a bad ride by Ruby? He rode a perfect race, gave him every chance at the end and he was beaten by a couple of very good horses. I think your guy might have a better chance on quick ground. Anyway, easy RFC winner, that way we both win.
Ruby was 30 length behind and detached for most of that race and gets beat 3 length by 2 Grade 1 winners…West approach has to be rated 156 if both ‘Cole Harden’ and ‘UknowwhatImeanharry’ ran to around 160 and thats enough to make him fav in my book…’Death Duty’ couldn’t run to that mark today.West approach is my number 2 banker of the meeting now behind my 480/1 Champion hurdle winner Petit Mouchoir
West approach rated 157 and thats more than enough to win an Albert Bartlett…TAPK knows!

That’s 11 eleven runs over hurdles and only one win in a five-runner Class 2. I would far sooner be with a progressive winner rather than a proven loser, whatever the class he has been taking on. Ground is the concern for Death Duty supporters.

He’s still rated higher than his half brother Thistlecrack was at the same stage of their careers Stilvi so we know…I say ‘We’ that obviously doesn’t include you that West Approach is on that rapid rise to fame now.

Just to play devil’s advocate…
Best Mate and Cornish Rebel are half-brothers.
Debuts; Best Mate RPR133, Cornish Rebel RPR138
After 6 starts, Best Mate RPR150, Cornish Rebel RPR152
The supremacy ends there ;)
