Dave, it may be unwise to assume (as I’ve often done in the past) that the Festival will be run on good/faster going. They turned on the taps prior to the Paddy Power meeting and will no doubt do so again next March.
December 1, 2006 at 21:39 #32354Especially in light of the new watering policy, Mounty.
My Way De Solzen did jump well on his chasing debut, but I wasn’t particularly impressed overall – Thornton wasn’t exactly motionless in beating ‘OK’ horses.
I fancy him to get turned over by New Little Bric tomorrow but whatever happens, we should have a better idea about him.
December 1, 2006 at 22:52 #32355New Little Bric out to 13.5 on Betfair a few minutes ago and could be a knocking each-way bet tomorrow if all five run.
December 2, 2006 at 12:05 #32356I hate backing odds-on in nervous chases in particular but I can’t see MWDS as being opposable – in fact I think he’s a punt @ 4/6. I make him shorter than that!
January 22, 2007 at 20:07 #734in my opinion if my way de solzen went for RSA he would win on the bridle. denman is overrated and idle’s in front. but it looks like my way is going to have his legs run off in the arkle, as racing demon did last year!
January 23, 2007 at 00:45 #36405I don’t like the stable much (at all?) but UNGARO seems a bit overlooked for this?
The Feltham has appeared in the CV (albeit placed only) of 2 of the last 3 winners. He’s relatively unexposed too.
If it wasn’t for the yard I’d probably have a good few quid on, although he wouldn’t be 16/1 (gen 14/1) then.
January 23, 2007 at 00:53 #36406I don’t think Ungaro has been overlooked there is actually a thread in which it is highlighted.
Unfortunately its my pick as well, so it probably won’t even make it to the race!
January 23, 2007 at 00:58 #36407Sorry FSL, I didn’t really mean overlooked on here (although I didn’t realise he’d been mentioned much), I just meant 14/1 seemed a bit big.
I was quite impressed with him at Kempton so to see such a price now seemed like he was generally not considered by the public.
March 11, 2007 at 11:39 #1074MWDS a confirmed runner in the arkle.
March 11, 2007 at 12:05 #44877If that’s the case i can a Racing Demon ‘scenario’ occurring where the horse is run off its feet, especially if the drying ground continues. Fair Along has to be the one to be on in the conditions.
March 11, 2007 at 12:23 #44878Its a strange decision for me especially with the ground drying out.
I think My Way De Solzen will travel well enough but he won’t find anything when asked over this trip he’ll just look like a one paced plodder.
In saying that there’s been money for the horse when the rain came I wonder how much that influenced the decision? Maybe King got it into his head when the rain came that they’d go for the Arkle and had all but made his mind up?
I dunno but I think its almost certainly the wrong decison as the horse would’ve had a hell of a chance in the Ryanair. As it is I doubt he’ll make the first three in the Arkle.
March 11, 2007 at 21:37 #44884
All this talk about things drying out is being blown well out of proportion IMO.
We’ve just had so much rain this time that no matter what happens, it is going to ride very testing and probably very tacky as well so My Way De Solzen should have no problem.
It’ll be soft ground (maybe good to soft in places) but the Irish would probably call it good its certainly not going to be overly testing not unless we get another downpour anyway.
March 12, 2007 at 00:33 #44886It’ll be testing alright if what I’ve heard is true!
March 12, 2007 at 00:42 #44887it takes something special to win two races at one cheltenham, but i think that fair along can win the arkle and the county hurdle;)
March 12, 2007 at 07:18 #44888There are a few good reasons why Alan King has chosen the Arkle for My Way De Solzen.
Alan King has thought for a long time this could be a future Gold Cup horse and the Arkle Chase is a well known route to the Gold Cup.
The owners wanted to contest the Grade 1 race rather than the grade 2
