I agree with you Flash, if we’re talking about soft targets for My Way come March the QM has to be a serious consideration. Arkle winners have a very good record in the race, Twist Magic’s stamina is not completely assured and should Tamarinbleu run he may well bring My Way’s stamina into play by setting a highly searching pace.
January 29, 2008 at 09:33 #138592It’s very hard to guage exactly what would be the best option for MWDS until he reappears at Fontwell.

Agree with that completely, and is what is going to happen.
January 29, 2008 at 19:51 #138737I was quite prepared to think he’d come on massively for the run in the Betfair Chase from the way he was tanking along for so long. But even then, the fluent jumping he showed last season was absent. He was losing ground at every fence and then travelling between fences. He was never travelling in the King George and holding his head at a strange angle from early on. I came to the conclusion, for my own betting purposes, that there was something more fundamental wrong with him than merely a problem with fences. I can’t help but feel he’ll be lacklustre over hurdles, too, unless a problem has been found and solved. I hope I’m wrong, though!
January 29, 2008 at 20:17 #138743Probably most disappointing horse of this season, a shame, as he wouldn’t have been out of place in either Queen Mother or Ryanair on last years Chase form
January 29, 2008 at 20:36 #138753I would have thought it fairly obvious that the horse hasn’t been right this season.
Whether the yard can discover what the problem is and then sort him out is a bit of an unknown.
I am just as surprised by the decision to aim him at the World Hurdle this year, as I was with the decision to go for the Arkle last year!!
I think Mr. King must be given the benefit of the doubt.

January 29, 2008 at 20:42 #138760I hope Kingy can get him back Colin, because no matter which race he goes for at Cheltenham, it’ll certainly add more interest
April 2, 2008 at 10:50 #155103Entered for the Aintree Hurdle – I think he has a good chance in this, possibly his best of the season provided they don’t slit his throat with Elusive Dream
April 2, 2008 at 10:56 #155109Elusive Dream has been declared tomorrow to take on Franchoek in the 2m 4f novice so would appear an unlikely runner on Saturday.

Depends if Elusive Dreams run tomorrow in the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle.
April 2, 2008 at 12:19 #155128I’ll be very interested in MWDS for the Aintree hurdle. It looks a weak renewal and I think he’ll be at his best over a decent 2m4. Soft ground (unlikely, to be fair) and he’ll definitely be carrying my money.

I really like the look of Aitmatov, didn’t stay in the World Hurdle but still ran a cracking race.

April 2, 2008 at 12:49 #155143I take it Osana isn’t running in this?
I like most of you was witching MWDS with great interest in the world Hurdle and would have been delighted to see him run a good race but the fact remains he did it again……..Lydia said he carried his head in a funny position when he was chasing and rightly so, he did. He does have a high head carriage but what I saw at Cheltenham was more than that his head went up the old ears were pricked and onece again when the pressure was truned on he didn’t want to know. He was travelling really well 2 out but when they turned the tap on he was the first horse beat…..It’s a real shame he was a very very good Arkle winner but I honestly think he’s gone.
Maybe it’s just the way he looks but he also started hanging again which is not a good sign.he was fine when he came of the bend as he was in betwen 2 horses but as soon as he got behind he hung the head went up again and he lost 10 or 12 lengths by the time they got to the line.
If he can run like he did against Loch Derg and puts it in he could go close but there is a real cross mix up of form here and that makes it a non betting race for me.
We have Al Eile who always runs well here, Afsoun Straw Bear and Aitmatov on one side…. then you have Elusive Dream Loch Derg and MWDS on the other….Osana? if he runs he make it even more intersting.
Nicky Henderson has left it to Afsoun and withdrawn CH 3rd Punjabi……great EW bet if the price is big enough IMO
April 2, 2008 at 12:56 #155147I have to agree with Fist on this one, My Way travelled wonderfully at Cheltenham but found nothing up the hill, hope he wins but i wont be betting on it.
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 2, 2008 at 15:13 #155180Osana is declared as is Aitmatov who I got really excited about but his second half of the season puts me off – His last run was some sort of return to form however.
Personally i’m gonna back Lough Derg out of sentiment as he’s won me a fair few quid this year…
April 2, 2008 at 15:42 #155191I really fancy Al Eile for Saturday’s race.
Course & Distance.
April 3, 2008 at 00:02 #155304Aragon,
All of Meade’s horses out of form over Xmas, I think Aitmatov has a touch of class.
