All about Ok Corral for me here + i might take a go at Mortal too if this ends up being his target (probably depending on Sunday.)

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 17, 2019 at 13:51 #1397816Added Champagne Classic 9s in case he wins later.
February 17, 2019 at 15:46 #1397826didn’t win but shaped like a stayer in the last furlong.
February 24, 2019 at 23:32 #1399045A few have come and gone for me in this, but thankfully, it’s been a lucky escape, and my biggest Antepost bet of The Festival, Blow By Blow, has been cashed out. It’s still not been 100% confirmed that he’s not going, and though none of his other runs bothered me too much, even the most eternal of optimists would struggle to see him on the boat after his run last weekend. I still like him, but that was poor, and I took the money and ran. In the off chance that he did head here, I’d still consider him, though I’m also stuck with him “any race”, so perhaps that would be more than enough lol.
Happy with my 16’s on OK Corral, but I’m also happy to have laid him at 4.8’s, and having also added Champagne Classic (who didn’t impress me too much either last weekend), I’m happy to be ahead at this stage on the race.
Not for long though, and back slightly in the red with my next play, and it’s one who I gave a mention to earlier, Ibis Du Rheu. I’m happy to draw a line through his Warwick run, as it’s always dicey reading too much into the runs of Nicholls trained runners in January, and the main drawback I can see with him, is that he looks perfect for The Scottish National as well. If that were the case, would they want to blow his mark for that. That’s maybe being too cautious, as that’s not a common MO for the trainer, and I’m sure John Hales will want him here. Crucially for me, he doesn’t have any entries for the handicaps, and can boast not only course winning form, but Festival Winning Form. Yard are flying, he looks guaranteed to get his ground, and though not certain to draw one of the top rank jocks, I’m sure the yard will have that well covered.
25’s is still available, but I’m more than happy with 20’s NRNB, that looks too big, and the more I look at him the more I like him.
Although happy with my other pair, I’d have him close to my #1 for this right now. Jockey booking could be crucial.
Discorama is another who’s respected.
Ok Corral 16’s (Laid 4.8’s)
Champagne Classic 9’s NRNB
Ibis Du Rheu 20’s NRNBMarch 5, 2019 at 10:21 #1399784Ballyward looks solid for this, but at a bigger price I have to agree with Bobby here and suggest Ibis Du Rheu. I think Paul Nichols has targeted this race for a long time and he ticks a lot of boxes.
They’d be my two. The former features in a few of my accumulators, so I’d be more hopeful of him, but as an each way saver I’m happy to take a chance on the latter.
March 6, 2019 at 13:22 #1399904Blow By Blow added again at 40’s ew NRMB. Chipped away over the last few days, and another top up, although no confirmation he’s been declared.
March 6, 2019 at 13:33 #1399907Champagne Classic taken out of this today.
March 6, 2019 at 13:51 #1399908Yet another example of having to take what the trainers say with a shovel of salt. Just last week on Twitter Elliott was saying this is exactly where Champagne Classic would go. I’m still hoping my Blow by Blow bet pays off here instead.
A key lesson for me this year is not to attach to much weight to trainers words from preview nights when they’re talking about horses owned by active owners and racing managers i.e. Gigginstown, Munir & Souede and McManus
March 6, 2019 at 17:00 #1399935Apparently, although don’t quote me on this, Codd is riding Le Breuil
March 6, 2019 at 17:41 #1399946Ibis Du Rheu out, so I’ll just be sticking with Ballyward.
March 7, 2019 at 15:08 #1400078I’m not convinced with the fav here, for all he’s a nice horse. I would have loved to see him in RSA. I think Ballyeard is my nap of the week in this.
March 8, 2019 at 08:23 #1400162I think the ground will be completely against him on Day One, but I have also bet Whisperinthebreeze at 25-1, as he was a very impressive winner at The Dublin Festival
March 9, 2019 at 13:40 #1400346I’m hoping Mortal runs here; breeding, form, connections…all massive positives
March 10, 2019 at 00:04 #1400444He’ll be my backup on the day for this Mark. Green on the race now, and though happy with the 16’s on No Comment, I’m still no convinced this is the race for him, so I’ll go with Mortal as well.
March 10, 2019 at 09:25 #1400470Has No Comment been pulled out ?
Mortal is my only selection for this thus far and will back something on the day depending on how much rain actually falls on the course
I can’t see why Impulsive Star would show improved form over this trip this season because it won’t be Good going
I’ve doubts Le Breuil’s stamina holding out.
Atlanta Ablaze is interesting but Biddick has a terrible record over these fences ( sorry, Will ! )
Chef Des Obeaux – if O’Hare ( a winner over these fences ) hunts him round over the first 3 miles and the horse gains in confidence, then Henderson might actually have his first ever winner at this distance; Chef was poor on debut, improved during the Chepstow win and will have been well schooled since.
March 10, 2019 at 09:58 #1400475Sorry Mark, I meant Ok Corral, not No Comment. I’m losing it lol
March 10, 2019 at 10:23 #1400480Jerrysback declares for this, so he’ll be my other selection here.
I’ll still be green on the race, so I’ll be looking to add another.
