I like your sarcasm, Mr. Ginger!
Not..
May 26, 2019 at 04:24 #1441633By the way: I really regret not to have played (Fender) Telecaster for the sake of the wonderful Mr. Rick Parfitt, so rest in peace
May 26, 2019 at 04:34 #1441634Frankie is always left with an egg Jac,
as his comments come out of a mixture of his Italian temperament and some coke
Gosden seems to be left with an egg as his brain currently appears almost as wrinkled as his skin
May 26, 2019 at 09:21 #1441654I wouldn’t want to get personal hein, we all make mistakes, it just seems to have not worked the way trainer and jockey expected.
My main interest is and always will be the horses and they are all so different it must be a nightmare trying to get inside their heads to see what they are really learning and taking to the track. This flat season has been one of the most difficult to predict the outcome of the Classics I have known for a long time and feel we will learn a lot more from Royal Ascot, let’s look forward to that and have some good discussion about who will win and look forward to the re-appearance of some real Champs of the Turf, like Sea Of Class,Enable, Masar, Persian King, Battaash, Blue Point and hopefully even Elarqam could be on a comeback mission.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 26, 2019 at 10:48 #1441665Agreed Jac, that’s a great bottom line as always from you, because you are a wise and wonderful person
May 26, 2019 at 11:09 #1441667Hein how has Gosden F’d up TDH?
Calyx trip wouldn’t have changed anything, so nothing to do with Gosden he was flat yesterday fair and square. Perhaps even bounced.
Between insulting people on their own threads and on here you lost the plot last night, and either it was alcohol or you’re quite a twisted being… either way give your head a shake.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!May 26, 2019 at 11:11 #1441668With TDH there was always a danger the race would come too quick after York. Whether that is enough of an excuse to turn the form round at Ascot with POS remains to be seen and it wont be easy. But i’m not going to write him off until I see him run again after a normal break to see what he can do.
May 26, 2019 at 11:31 #1441670One “bad” run for Too Darn Hot, one bad run for Calyx.
Have to say it was a brilliant ride from Spencer – he knew what was required to turn the form round with Magna Grecia and made use of an obviously talented horse; there’s no shame in TDH being beaten there soon after York.
The time was quick, the form looks genuine and it’s possible we’ll see TDH race over ten again later in the season
May 26, 2019 at 12:36 #1441677TDH will be fine.
Perhaps not a superstar as I’d have hoped but his preparation has been not what Gosden would have hoped for in missing the Greenham. This race was an afterthought so was the Dante but he ran with enough credit in both. It seems Gosden was at pains to make this horse a Classic winner. I certainly wouldn’t be written him off just yet.
Some training performance to win a decent G1 1st time up for POS and great tipping yesterday BigG..

May 26, 2019 at 13:00 #1441681I think I’ve been doing this too long hein but thank you for the kind words.

I hope that TDH and Calyx come back to find their form again they are both beautifully bred horses we shall have to wait again now to find out.
Lets not get into Steve Caution mode, he would be loving this. Lots of good punters on here and interesting opinions that’s why I love this Forum.
Well done to Phoenix Of Spain risen from the ashes and hope to see Calyx and TDH find their way back to top form soon, Jac
Oh and just in case I forget
….
Come On Qabala keep clear of the AOB horses in running and show Hermosa what she should gave seen at Newmarket ..
a clean pair of horseshoes pulling clear at the finish…
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 26, 2019 at 15:29 #1441692Well done BigG! I take it all back what I said about Charlie Hills! Believe every word he says!!

Whilst disappointing, JG does have habit of improving his horses as the season goes on, just look at Roaring Lion as a recent case in point. He actually said afterwards “I don’t think he ran flat, he is a game one and I think he has needed the race to bring him on again”
It’s entirely probable the injury really came at a bad time and he’s taking his time to come back. Bare in mind he is not fully fit, he has still come 2nd in the leading Derby Trial Group2 and a Classic.
I am certainly not going to give up on him yet, in fact 4/1 for the SJP could be the bet of the season, I will certainly go in again at that price and JG will definitely have TDH spot on for Royal Ascot. No more excuses to be fair, but I don’t think he will need them this time and at 4/1 I will definitely take the chance.
On that, I am not sure I trust Charlie Hills to follow up his form. Phoenix of Spain has had his day, thats my prediction right here. Clearly his horses are well forward right now, could even say peaking maybe? Do you want your horses to be peaking 3 weeks before Royal Ascot? Hmmmmm let’s see.
Of the others, dare I say Magna Grecia was now proven to be on the right side of the track, with a draw and pace bias in the Eng 2000 Guineas and Skardu is not that good, which is what I said at the time. Only time will tell now, but I will stick with that thinking for now.
I have one other question/thought to put to people. There has been in the past a lot of conversation around JG just not being very good in the early season and that’s why he has never won the 2000 Guineas. I remember GT, you did a big piece of analysis that went some way to disprove that theory, however the fact remains JG seems better in mid/end of season than at the beginning.
So my question is, how likely is it, that TDH was not forward enough in April and they made an excuse that he was injured?
Just entertain that idea for a minute. There is no way JG could say, “oh he’s not going to run in the 2000 Guineas, because he is not ready” as he would get blamed for it.
What do we think? It’s possible?!
May 26, 2019 at 22:18 #1441810But also I must admit I was wrong with Calyx, he’s not the superstar I saw in him, and the excuses from Gosden about the ground etc seem so pathetic
That wasn’t Calyx yesterday
he had no exuberance at all, you’d be expecting him to be pulling double in a small field
also worth noting when asked for his effort he went left handed, that could be sign of something amiss with him.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
May 26, 2019 at 22:42 #1441811Yes that was clearly not the real calyx
Havlin said the same in his interview after
Said he wasn’t the same horse yesterday that hed ridden at home just days before, said the only horse that has ever given him a similar feeling to calyx was kingman
May 26, 2019 at 23:44 #1441848I deeply hope you are right that Calyx can be forgiven this run Nathan, and that he can get back his brilliance, and I wish you the same for TDH
Yes Jac, Steve C. would have probably enjoyed this which would be of course the least wanted for me, so I take your advice and will stay more reserved. You nailed it that the horses are the core and by far the most important of this sport and this is purely enjoyable
I really was angry on JG because imo he made a bit many mistakes lately, but he wouldn’t do this by design and will probably and hopefully strike back later in the season. - AuthorPosts
