I too was split between Spring Loaded and Growl.

I eventually sided with the latter at 7/1. I’ll kick myself if SL was to win though as I backed him last time at Goodwood when he was a never-nearer 7th.

    Growl @ 7/1

    Al Qahwa 14/1

Last run at Ripon catches the eye, O Meara loves this race and his claimers record for the trainer is pretty decent. Mark is good, ran very well at the curragh last season behind Ice Age beaten 1.25L and now has a 11 pound swing with him.

    I’ve backed:
    Growl 10/1
    Golden Apollo 11/1
Reputation 29/1, just in case they let the front runners go (like the Stewards Cup).
Dark Power 29/1 Struggled to find one high number draw that I like (missed the price for Teruntum Star) hope Dark Power goes with the high drawn horses from stall 12.

Around 100/30 the four main bets combined.
If they don’t get too much rain overnight, will have a saver on Spring Loaded.

Echoing what Raymo has said, I’ve backed SHANGHAI GLORY.

I’ve backed four here each-way (6 places). Ice Age (25/1), Aeolus (25/1), Brian The Snale (25/1) and Marie Of Lyon (16/1).

Gone for the Fahey pair Growl and Kimberella each way 5 places.
Kimberella ran Sir Dancealot to a nose off 109 in June. Running off 98 today with the claimer so if you believe the ratings he should go very close. Growl’s chance already been mentioned by others. Another potentially well handicapped.

Tricky race all the same. :mail:

Bit of a drift with Spring Loaded, out to 12s fro 8s. Not sure what that is about. I’ve
stuck a few quid on Kimberella.

Kimberella obviously didn’t run to his rating.

Shanghai Glory was off the bridle from the start. Not his true running. I wonder what happened?

Isn’t Shanghai Glory a soft ground horse these days?

Finished 2nd last week on good to soft. This week it was good. I can’t see that being the reason.

Probably just an inconsistent horse then.

Bit gutted about Spring Loaded, the vibes didn’t look good just before the off
with the drift in the market, but I thought he was going to get up for 4th only
to go down a short head behind Ice Age. I had taken him e/w 4 places ante post.
Well done to anyone who took him 5 places today or managed to catch the winner.

He absolutely sluiced up in it last year Raymo. No betting out for it yet,
but he is priced up in the Ayr Gold Cup (16/1). Whichever he heads for he
will have a solid chance, despite being 15lbs higher than when he took the
Portland last year. There’s definitely another big prize in him, even though
he will likely carry top weight, or near enough, in either. I’ll wait until
it’s a bit clearer where he’s going and then I’ll have a punt :good:
