No doubting NR’s talent, Bobby, but it sticks in my mind how lazy he looked at Wetherby last season when he seemed to take a hell of a lot of driving. Heavy ground that day though and perhaps he hated it – certainly ran as though he did.
I think Dickie scared the hell out of him at Aintree with one of those never say die rides, but I suspect he’s going to be one of those who needs everything to fall right for him; a tall order in races like the Hennessy, but good luck.
October 24, 2016 at 10:33 #1268444Thanks Joe, fingers crossed for him, but if he doesn’t trap, I can hope that O’Faolains does the business, he’s very much my #1
October 25, 2016 at 10:37 #1268522Native River is likely to be given a prep-run for The Hennessy at Wetherby in a weeks time. His rating of 154 over fences gives him a feasible mark for Newbury (Smad Place won of 155 last year) and is openly being trained for the race. Course form, a dour stayer and a sound jumper. I struggle to see Mr Tizzard’s charge being out of the first 4 and at 12/1 seems a decent each-way bet even a month in advance.
I got 16s from Hills a couple of weeks ago but he’s generally 10-1 now and that’s a bit too short. Unless he waltzes in over hurdles at the weekend, he’ll be a bigger price on the day at Newbury – yes ?
Vyta Du Roc is my other fancy for the race.
October 25, 2016 at 10:44 #1268523Saphir Du Rheu is by Al Namix and nothing by him has ever convinced over fences, particularly in second season top class races.
October 25, 2016 at 21:32 #1268628Un Temps Pour Tout for me, 20/1 with Bet 365. His win at Cheltenham last time was very good, I think he ought to stay the trip too on good/soft. Been a while since Pipe won this (2008 with Madison du Berlais?) so probably overdue for a good trainer.
October 26, 2016 at 00:54 #1268659Good luck with him Joliff, and I’d like to see Pipe land another big one. If not for having bet already, I’d be interested in his stablemate Vieux Lion Rouge, who I think is definitely heading here.
October 26, 2016 at 11:36 #1268683Tizzard says Cue Card and Thistlecracks owners are ok with the horses taking each other on. Seems like he has a very loyal/sporting set of owners. Can’t wait for Saturday; Charlie Hall day beats the Festival for me these days. Just been reminded that it was pretty wet there last year.
October 26, 2016 at 12:20 #1268688not great at working out the there h,cap marks. but im a big NATIVE RIVER fan.i see he won at aintree off 149. but now at 145. BLAKLION was on 154 and still is. even though RIVER beat him fair and square. so if RIVER runs in the hennessy of that mark he must have a great chance. also at 6 years old has still loads of improvement to come.
October 26, 2016 at 15:12 #1268706I have backed two for this O’Faolains Boy & Saphir Du Rheu both at 25/1 EW
The reasons for backing these creatures:
Both yards are firing compared to this time last year, both horses are on good marks, they both like Kempton, they act on soft ground, both have good pilots (JM claiming), they stay the trip, both have been targeted for this race and both will horses will prep run over hurdles to sharpen them up.
I think the current 25/1 for SDR is massive especially when he nearly placed running for top weight last year.
In Last years race he was in the mix until until the second last even after clouting one very hard out the back. He now has a massive 23 pound pull over Smad place who is generally 16/1.
With a bit of lucky and a clear round, i am confident both are capable of running in to a place.
Happy Punting for whatever your on
October 26, 2016 at 15:21 #1268713Best of luck with those 2 ATP…..for obvious reasons lol.
I’ve now added Saphir Du Rheu at 26’s to 29’s, as I’d be kicking myself if his odds collapsed after a good run at the weekend.
October 26, 2016 at 15:24 #1268714Full list of entries………….
All systems go for Avant Tout as 58 entries revealed today for the 60th Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury
October 26, 2016 at 15:55 #1268720I think he’s running over hurdles to protect his mark before the Hennessy….
October 26, 2016 at 15:56 #1268721I’m hopeful Jamie, had to have a go at the odds
October 26, 2016 at 17:11 #1268731STRONG ENTRIES
October 26, 2016 at 17:51 #1268740its going to be a great hennassy this year. seems trainers are now taking this classic h.cap seriously
October 26, 2016 at 18:38 #1268749I have bet him for the BetVictor, and at 33-1 I will stick with him here too.
If I had a crystal ball and knew what Gigginstown horses would show up, I would like to risk Roi Des Francs at 40-1 with Bet365 and the same bet with Wounded Warrior.
October 26, 2016 at 19:27 #1268754Vieux Lion Rouge out but Un temps pour tout still in, weights are out on 9th Nov so may wait until then before having a bet…
