Do you think the constant dieting is taking it’s toll on him; I mean most jockeys have to battle the scales as they age but he’s had to do so through his teens as well.
May 26, 2014 at 18:05 #480266Far too many Joseph bashers on here. To me he is riding to instruction most of the time. There could be an issue with his weight but don’t think cool more would keep him on if they thought he wasn’t up to it. Just remember he is still a very young man and many jockeys weren’t able to cope with the demands of being ballydoyle no1. Just ask Jamie spencer.

If Australia is half as good as they are saying Jo Brand could ride it to victory at Epsom, never mind Jo O’Brien.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 27, 2014 at 04:45 #480288Just look at Joseph and imagine how Jamie would have looked with the rules Aidan had for him.Now that I think of it poor Joseph deserves our sympathy not our roasting.
May 27, 2014 at 13:47 #480309Riding to instructions you say, then a pox on both their houses or horses as the case may be.(both he who gave the instructions and he who followed them so faithfully)
June 4, 2014 at 01:25 #481077Except for Camelot Ballydoyle has always been represented by multiple runners in the Derby. Now I just don’t think Australia is as good as Camelot. Were he, there would be no Ballydoyle horse in the race lest they interfere with Joe and the "wonder" horse. I will back whatever Moore rides.
June 4, 2014 at 12:01 #481106Quite weak in the betting for a "wonder horse" with Australia 11/8 in places now and touching 6/4 on Betfair.
He looked a good horse in the 2000 G but "best ever" material would have won, to my mind at least. In the aftermath he became the "best ever" Derby horse they have had but strangely "so good" that he needs the company of three stable mates on the big day.
One thing we can be sure of is that, if Australia doesn’t win the Derby, Aiden O’Brien is going to look like he’s been talking out of his "waste air pipe" regarding the horse.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 4, 2014 at 23:24 #481148Ryan Moore is on Geoffrey Chaucer but I don’t fancy him to do the double after Ruler Of The World last year.
Corals are 6/4 Australia. Are the "Hotpot wins" boys laying into that gift from the bookies?
I wonder what price Australia will go off if Marvellous fails to shine in the Oaks?
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 5, 2014 at 14:07 #481184When Aidan said he was "the best he ever trained" he should be more explicit. The best over what distance? The best giving what under foot conditions? Soft etc etc.The best carrying what weight? On a round course or a straight one? Surely saying "the best" is not enough. He certainly was not "the best" over a mile in the Guineas,as is noted above.
June 6, 2014 at 12:29 #481261Just a couple of little negatives ahead of tomorrow.
The most striking aspect of the Derrinstown was Ebanoran’s change of pace. Unfortunately, he couldn’t keep straight and eventually fell over the line. Everyone is talking about the stamina on the dam’s side but there is no getting away from the sire being Oasis Dream. Despite quite a high head carriage he had no trouble disposing of Table Rock at two. No surprise if 10 furlongs on good ground is as far as he wants to go. Any softening of the ground would be another negative.
The Grey Gatsby’s French Derby win has led to some interest in both True Story and Arod. I am struggling to view it as anything other than a pretty mediocre renewal. An easy maiden winner chased the winner, the third was never put in the race with any chance and Mr Pommeroy, an ex-All Weather horse, would surely have been in the four but for drifting all over the track.
June 6, 2014 at 13:20 #481269Hi,
I’m looking to have a good bet on Australia tommorow, but am not sure whether to take the 6/4 with Corals or not, or whether i should risk it and do it later on today.
Do you think there is any chance i could get better before the off, through any high street bookmaker?
Thanks,

del_boyI would wait to see how Marvellous runs today in the Oaks. If she wins there are likely to be some liabilities from punters who have doubled the O’Brien trained duo. If she were to win I’d get on Australia asap because there is also likely to be a confidence boost behind Australia, as well as financial liability.
Marvellous has gone out to 5/1 today, which is a bit unsettling for her supporters I would think. If she doesn’t win and were to under perform it could give bookies confidence they can get the fav beaten in the Derby.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 6, 2014 at 15:28 #481291Thoughts on Pinzolo EW as an outsider?
June 6, 2014 at 18:39 #481314Apparently Hills are going 5’2 Australia @ 8:30 tomorrow not sure for what stakes
I think Kingston Hill might be worth a look if on the soft side
If the rain stays away then True Story might be worth a lookJohn
June 6, 2014 at 20:34 #481326Not sure what I’ve backed but I think [just rooting round in my handbag for betting slips
] it’s Orchestra [cause the S.O. backed him and I didn’t want him gloating if he won]ArodPinzolo, Our Channel [still searching for the 100/1 winner and it might as well be in the Derby], Kingfisher and Romsdal [thinking it was going to rain for days and wanted something that would stay]. Probably the only horses I don’t fancy are Australia and the Oxx horse, and Fascinating Rock.
June 6, 2014 at 20:39 #481327If ever a horse was bred to win the Derby then its
Australia
,Darren spotted this fellow way back and snaffled the 25/1 another brilliant bit of foresight,I cant see him out of the first 3 no matter what the ground.Would I take 6/4 now though?Well I remember way back to 1985 on the morning of the Oaks,I was sitting on 10/1 vouchers about
Oh so sharp
winning and she traded at 6/4 on the eve of the event too,I thought she was a stone wall certainty,She was. However I’m not interested in 6/4 about ‘Australia’,I’m looking at another
At first sight
scenario, this fellow ran em ragged 4 yrs ago at 100/1 and only the mighty ‘Workforce’ could catch him.I reckon if the rain does come
Kingfisher
at 80/1 could emulate that performance,I have taken 100/1 and above about his chances and 20’s to place. When ‘Australia’ runs past him at the furlong pole I’ll still be shouting for a place from a horse who has St Leger written all over him.Good Luck Darren fingers crossed for you.
June 6, 2014 at 21:59 #481350Thoughts on Ebanoran? Good trainer form, impressive last run.
