Kingston Hill certainly looked the part in the paddock and in the race, he has lots of other chances this year definitely one to follow. Loved the shots of Cirrus and you certainly caught the drama after the Coronation Cup thanks goodness he was okay.
The best looking horse of the day must be Black Beauty aka True Story what a looker

Beautiful shots that captured the atmosphere of the day.
Thanks David
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...June 11, 2014 at 23:17 #482042What a beautiful head Flintshire has and what a beast Kingston Hill is. I’d love to see him in the flesh. I’m so relieved about Cirrus.

I saw Kingston Hill at Newmarket on 2000 Guineas Day Moe and I was amazed to see how much he’s grown since then, a real stunner.

That’s the great thing about Newmarket you get to see the best before they become the best of the best.

June 26, 2014 at 10:05 #483969Well Australia is one horse withdrawal away from facing a penalty kick in the Irish Derby.
Already 4/11 fav and the possibility of main rival Kingston Hill pulling out on account of fast ground we could see a six runner race and that is a disappointing field for such a valuable race.
Maybe it says something about their confidence levels that he runs here, rather than drop in trip to face older horses in the Eclipse. i don’t really see what winning against the same horses again will do to enhance his reputation.
Perhaps they will bag this race and then take the older horses on in the King George, where I suspect a kicked on early Telescope, on suitable ground, would find out what Australia’s stamina clock actually reads.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

June 26, 2014 at 19:01 #483996Hard to judge if australia has any stamina doubts but the curragh is a much kinder 12f than epsom. As for running over 10f i doubt any horse in training could live with australias cruising speed.I think youll find him running in small fields as he continues to scare off opposition wherever he goes.John gosden is no mug and even he realises australia is a bit special.Too many want to knock the horse but it takes all sorts i suppose.Love to see austalia v kingman and cirrus in the irish champion on good ground.

Kingman won’t step up to 10f, he looks to me that 7f and a mile would be his trips.
Australia was a good looking Derby winner but I would back Kingman to beat him over a mile. Night Of Thunder tried to get first run in The St James’ Palace and Kingman came past him like a rat going up a drainpipe. I reckon the King will beat Toronado, who won the Queen Anne well enough but did not display anything like the same acceleration.
If John Gosden were from Dundee and had O’Brien’s penchant for talking up his horses, we would probably have heard by now:-
"See this Kingman man, hez lek hee-haw av’ ever seen afore ye ken!"
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 27, 2014 at 15:00 #484049Having watched the finish of the Guineas many times I believe that Australia was impeded at the finish by the winner coming at him causing Joseph to hesitate for an instance which cost him the race.
September 13, 2014 at 19:21 #490193Although Australia lived up to his trainer’s high opinion of him today, I cannot agree that the horse was doing things WE had never seen before. If there were special things going on with the horse at the age of two, they must have been happening on the gallops at home.
Agreed Steve,we learned something today.Aiden O’Brien talks and he insists we listen, that patronising constant repetitive ‘Listen’ is beginning to irritate. As far as
Australia
goes,he’s nothing special,he certainly wasn’t impressive today and for me the horse to take from the race is
Kingston hill
,he’s improved more from the Guineas than the winner and granted soft ground today would have won. This fellow floats across the ground,he travelled with supreme ease and ran a blinder. If the ground comes up softer in Ireland the placings will be reversed in the Irish Derby.I fully expect the best horse ever to be trained by Aiden getting beat before the seasons end, even
Camelot
was more impressive winning his Derby than ‘Australia’.

Another little pearl of TAPK’s wisdom…..’Himself’,might even agree
Australia
falls into the ‘Yet again Aidens made a fool of Himself’!!
September 13, 2014 at 20:43 #490204Is it once again Aidan made a fool of himself or once again Joseph made a fool of him?
