Ginge, for the love of God, it’s CamElot !

June 2, 2012 at 15:21 #406439Fair play the lad gave the horse a perfect ride. A worthy winner after all.
June 2, 2012 at 15:23 #406441When we go to witchcraft to find the winner of the Derby we are in deep trouble.
June 2, 2012 at 15:33 #406442God I hope Camelot goes to the Eclipse next against the older horses and not to the Irish Derby where he’ll just face a walkover against a few of his stablemates.
Camelot vs Frankel over 1m 2f at some point during this season would be exciting but unfortunately probably unlikely.
June 2, 2012 at 15:34 #406444impressive from camelot there although i’d hardly say breathtaking, certainly an above average derby winner. the way he stayed on in the straight, you’d have to say he’ll have no problem getting the st leger trip.
June 2, 2012 at 15:35 #406447Well that was…underwhelming.
If they don’t go on to the St. Leger I’ll be pretty angry. Camelot looks like he could go another two furlongs easily. And if the
Derby
field is this bad, the Leger might be a bunch of Class 6 handicappers.
June 2, 2012 at 15:39 #406450All roads lead to Doncaster. That was very impressive.
Interesting to hear that Mrs O’Brien had met Lester Piggott before The Derby and he advised her to tell Joseph to " take his time. "
Wise old Lester thought Camelot was an absolute cert.

Yes, a clash between the two would be a race to savour. I suppose a more pic encounter would also include I’ll Have Another should he bag the triple crown next Saturday. Imagine if Camelot wins the St Leger (and John Magnier just gave the strognest hint yet that they will aloow the horse to take his chance)and both he and Frankel were sent over to the Breeders Cup Classic – what a race that would be!
I guess that in terms of winning a Triple Crown at Doncaster, Camelot would have to be given a decent break – Nijinsky was given one albeit due to a bout of ringworm, kept off the track between late July and the Leger. That would of course take both the Eclipse and Juddmonte International out of the equation.
Having said that Coolmore may be tempted to give the horse a go at 10f just to satisfy those who still claim a horse of this ability would never be sent to Doncaster because it would detract from his stud value and make breeders view him as more of a NH stallion prospect.
Personally I would like to see him clash with Frankel because if he does win the Triple Crown without having raced against Frankel, in years to come people will ask why was he never asked to take on Sir Henry’s superstar.
Off to book my Doncaster tickets now.

Camelot: Irish Derby, St Leger, BC Classic
St Nic: King George, Irish CS, Arc, BC TurfJune 2, 2012 at 16:13 #406457I guess that in terms of winning a Triple Crown at Doncaster, Camelot would have to be given a decent break – Nijinsky was given one albeit due to a bout of ringworm, kept off the track between late July and the Leger. He’s had a grand total of 2 well-spaced starts this year, and will run a maximum of 4 more times in the season. If he, a strong healthy 3yo, needs a "decent break" then he does not deserve to win the Triple Crown. Nijinsky showed his class by winning the Leger
despite
illness.
June 2, 2012 at 16:19 #406458Strong flavor of sour grapes here.Critising his breaks not his racing.Only horses who win deserve to win.
June 2, 2012 at 16:40 #406461All this talk of the Triple Crown I find quite underwhelming to be honest. I’d rather see Camelot take on Frankel over 1m 2f than see him beat a bunch of Group 2/3 horses over 1m 6f.
June 2, 2012 at 16:45 #406463You must be tired of watching Frankel then.
June 2, 2012 at 16:49 #406464I was more impressed by St.Nicholas in the Coronation Cup.Showed the amazing turn of foot not seen since the Racing Post Throphy as a two year old.
June 2, 2012 at 17:02 #406465You must be tired of watching Frankel then.
Excelebration is a Group 1 miler he’s just being made to look like a group 2/3 horse by Frankel.
If Frankel moves up to 1m 2f I think it would be a huge shame if Camelot doesn’t face him at some point during the season.
June 2, 2012 at 17:11 #406466Agree with Arazi – Camelot v Frankel v So You Think v Carlton House in the Eclipse please.
Andyod – did you miss St Nic in the Breeders Cup?
