Here’s a site that gives you good info on past trends
November 2, 2009 at 11:50 #256721Mourilyan’s price coming in again; phew, thought there was a problem. I’m sure this race has been planned for quite a while, and can just see him working his way through the field! Had a tip for Kibbutz for a place, so may have a small ew on that one. Am also going to have another small bet on Ista Kareem now he’s 66/1; is guaranteed to stay the distance, albeit in his own time! With any luck may just about break even….Oh, and couldn’t resist Allez Wonder at 33/1.
November 2, 2009 at 14:44 #256749Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee – I’ll be watching it
November 2, 2009 at 14:47 #256750I’ll just watch it the next morning. I’ll log onto youtube and cover half the screen with a book, then gradually slide it up the screen until i can see the whole video screen, but not the title which might give away the winner. I might not even have to though if the doc pulls ot COTG.
November 2, 2009 at 14:49 #256751heard betfair, bluesq + VCbet are all showing it live so I’ll be watching it as well
November 2, 2009 at 17:59 #256784Master O’Reilly ew for me. I know he hasn’t won for a coule of seasons but he seems to be running into form at the right time.
November 2, 2009 at 19:21 #256797He was Glen Boss’ choice (outside of his own ride) at the preview yesterday dinner time.
November 2, 2009 at 19:32 #256801My AP bets are…
Master O’Reilly 33/1
Speed Gifted 25/1SG is obviously out so i’ve backed Allez Wonder, Basaltico and Mourilyan at small stakes/big prices today.
I want to take Viewed on. Can’t have him winning this again…..
Cue Viewed winning….Haha
November 2, 2009 at 20:17 #256807This race has never really captured my imagination.
A Group One Handicap over two miles???
One could argue that many of our staying handicaps are better than this.
It would be nice to get one over on the Aussies and Munsef has a decent ew shout. Not necessarily the best horse we’ve ever sent, but has looked an ideal type for the race and is consistent.
Of the new Aussie inmates (ha ha), Changingoftheguard also looked an ideal type for this race, but Warringah looked more likely to win a World Hurdle than a Melbourne Cup.
Cumani knows what type to send, so it would be folly to dismiss his horse, but it looks like another win for the home team.
Good for them!!
November 2, 2009 at 20:23 #256809Wow; looks as if Changinoftheguard is not going to be allowed to run..check out the radio link on page 8…vet is looking at him now….
November 2, 2009 at 20:26 #256810Yeah, looks like COTG can get on with reading his Sartre.
November 2, 2009 at 20:29 #256813Damn…there goes my interest in the cup. I was looking forward to it aswell
November 2, 2009 at 20:34 #256816Bet he’s really really depressed now…..[or perhaps he was upset at the thought of running 2 miles with a sore foot!!!]
November 3, 2009 at 03:54 #256837One of my favourite Mike Yarwood jokes.
Hugh Scanlon: The daffs are out.
Joe Gormley: Is it official?

Cannot have Master O at any price. Allez Wonder will need an extra set of lungs to run two miles. Daffodil looks a most unlikely stayer.
If the MC is a worse race than UK handicaps then why can’t UK Gr1 winners steal the prize? Aussie Gr1 winners can.
November 3, 2009 at 04:09 #256839Slow pace looked to be against Mourilyan there – stormed home for 3rd
November 3, 2009 at 04:16 #256840Feel sorry for Godolphin but would have kicked myself if Crime Scene had won, because I was looking at his past races yesterday and couldn’t understand why he was 40/1. Thank goodness I almost broke even with Mourilyan but, listening to the comments about his owner, perhaps it’s a good thing he didn’t win. Hope Warringah is ok.
