fair points Chivers also listening to Charlton he is not sure if it came up quick at HQ whether he would run. This sort of price would not get any of my hard earned

Beautiful breeding, nice horse. Hard to tell with it being an egg and spoon race though.
Trainer wouldn’t thrill you with enthusiasm either

John Gosden’s comments afterwards… “He has had a good blow. This is a trial and this is not the 2000 Guineas so you are not fully wound up for this. The race now puts them where you want them and that is the idea of the trials. He went for his girth, and he had a good blow afterwards, but he is entitled to.”

Very impressive from Field of Gold there . On a separate point, Kieran Shoemark seems now to have settled into the responsibility of one of the big jobs in Flat racing and is riding with great confidence and skill. I predict a big season for the lad.

Guineas field always littered witheither good/impressive craven winner only for them to disappoint in the big race itself.

Juddmonte’s racing manager has said that, at this stage, Fields Of Gold will be their only representative, with Cosmic Year going for the King Charles II Stakes on the Friday, and both Jonquil and Detain going to Longchamp unless it comes up heavy in France.

Twain NR. Expanded looking like the only AOB representative.

Shadow of Light around 7’s is my choice now Twain is out.

He won the Dewhurst at Newmarket last year beating Expanded by half a length on ground that he was not expected to like.

I prefer SOL over his stable companion Ruling Court, 6 length winner in Meydan this year…but what did he beat? I remember Charlie Appleby said after his Meydan race that he thought Ruling Court more of Derby type.

I think Appleby’s holding back on any pre race interviews until Will Buick has decided which horse he will ride.

I think he’ll choose Shadow Of Light, he’d be mad not too. Jac

Just read on RP that Will Buick has elected to ride Ruling Court..that doesn’t change my mind at all, I’m sticking with Shadow Of Light and might get a better price now. He”s a definite EW but hoping he’ll be the winner.. :good: Jac

I’d imagine it was because Ruling Court might have been showing more at home, but the Guineas is won on the Rowley Mile, not the home gallops!

Yes my thoughts also Oscar remembering the ill fated Coreobus back in 2022 beating Native Trail and then Doyle going on to win the 1000 Guineas on Cachet for George Boughey beating Godolphin’s Wild Beauty

I’ve no worries about Barzelona riding SOL, he has had at least 14 Group 1 successes riding for Godolphin mainly in France and Dubai. I think on Shadow Of Light he has an amazing opportunity to win this. as you say SOL goes on the Rowley Mile and we know in the Dewhurst he won it under unsuitable conditions…that was a bold run.

Maybe Charlie Appleby feels Ruling Court needs the expertise of Buick over the Rowley Mile, he could be a machine we’ll find out on Saturday, they obviously know more than they will let on but I think and hope Shadow Of Light will prevail. Jac
