Added Twain 9-1 ew
March 24, 2025 at 13:26 #1724766O’Brien claiming The Lion In Winter is unlikely to make it now as he’s not fit enough.
After a racecourse gallop and with 6 weeks still until the race, surely he could have him in top shape by then.Winning the 2000 Guineas doesn’t appear to hold much prestige anymore as so many appear to use it as a prep run nowadays.
March 24, 2025 at 14:07 #1724767Twain 9/1
….By Wootton Bassett, is my Guineas/Derby hopeful this season and think he is going to be big this year for Ballydoyle. He has a big rounded action and will need some cut in the ground. He still has to prove he can go the extra distance but watching him win his Maiden at Leopardstown by 6 lengths on the turning track he will certainly handle Epsom and having gone on to win The Criterium at Saint Cloud on heavy going his stamina has been franked..
Best of luck with him Mike.
9/1 EW is a good price and I have also taken 10’s for the Derby.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 24, 2025 at 21:11 #1724787AOB on Twain’s ground suitability…
“Physically, Twain has done very well. It ended up soft for both his runs but we think he’d have no problem on better ground.”
March 24, 2025 at 23:04 #1724795That’s good to hear Mike..thanks.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 25, 2025 at 07:11 #1724801Has Aidan lost his ability to train one for this race now? He’ll still have some of the market leaders because of his own reputation more than anything but no winners since 2019 and several high profile flops in that time. I’d have to do some digging but pretty sure most if not all of his winners were already Group 1 winning 2yos.
March 25, 2025 at 09:37 #1724805I agree GM23
Aidan playing the percentages
Stud value if wins Vs stud value for an unbeaten horse??
The Lion in Winter would be vulnerable in the guineas first time up perhaps
Maybe take in a trial Aidan 🤔Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 25, 2025 at 14:46 #1724820It’s a joke Nathan.
Lake Victoria is apparently a doubt for the 1000 Guineas due to not being fit enough also.
If you can’t get a horse fit in Ballydoyle then you’re not much of a trainer. His horses regularly run like absolute mules on first run of the season whereas lots of smaller trainers have no problems getting theirs fit with much lesser facilities.
March 25, 2025 at 15:20 #1724821Suits me we don’t have to put up with all the drama leading up to it, the circus surrounding City Of Troy last season was ridiculous with everyone waxing lyrical over the second coming.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 25, 2025 at 21:25 #1724847Obviously Twain is fit
Strange as you’d expect them all to be training to a similar regime unless Aidan never had plans for The Lion in Winter to be a guineas runner. Last season hardly any of his yard won first time out. It’s a little puzzling as he always use to have a good record in the guineasGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 25, 2025 at 22:13 #1724851Weather may be something of a factor again this year. While not as bad as last year it has been yet another long cool winter which may have delayed matters in Coolmore among some of the younger charges
March 26, 2025 at 08:19 #1724860I think the winner will come from the Charlie Appleby yard.
March 30, 2025 at 11:58 #1725171Just watching the RTV Obrien stable tour , sounds Twain is the HQ route and my pick Expanded will be kept away from him, well done the people on Twain at 9s
April 7, 2025 at 12:18 #1726563I see Cosmic Year is having an outing Wednesday at Kempton
April 7, 2025 at 12:42 #1726564I’m on Shadow of Light here, but slightly concerned about no update from Appleby thus far…
April 9, 2025 at 19:53 #1726792as low as 11/2 Cosmic Year after the Kempton win
April 9, 2025 at 21:21 #1726803Some keen ante-posters out there itching to have a bet. Beat 3 newcomers and the rest were no hopers. Bookies obviously not willing to take any more dough on him though as that price is just silly for what he’s achieved thus far.
