I’m not that surprised as no-ones wanted to back anything hard in this market so now people are latching onto the potential big improver. Got a lot to prove. I’m happy with my picks MOTS and Wembley although Poetic Flare EW I think is a great shout. JB said he puts him in New Approach’s bracket!

I’d be concerned about Master Of The Seas draw. He does have Devilwala drawn next door to him who generally gets on with it but the main protagonists on paper are drawn 7 upwards and what I presume should have been his pacemaker in Naval Crown is instead going to be taking the Ballydoyle contingency et al along on the nearside rail. Considering he was still far too free for my liking in the hood in the Craven in the context of a potential Guineas winner, he could very well get isolated away from the main action and pull his chance away much like he did in the National Stakes.

It is worth noting that because of the late guineas last year and derby, some of the trends established over many years will go out of the window. These horses have had different preparations to before. The results will bear that out.
Lucky Vega for me. With Jim Bolger enjoying a good start to the season, Poetic Flare too.
    Early form is very smart.
I like the fact that issues have come up to be sorted out before the big race which can be factored into his performance today.
I think he’ll ( lucky Vega) enjoy the course and the space.
If he gets into a rhythm then his finishing speed may leave a few of the more fancied runners in his slipstream. There is less likelihood of the traffic issues he has encountered in the build up to this race, and I get the feeling that there is much more to come. He is made for this one race. Dam won the 1000 guineas. 217 days since last run and not knocked about when well held by Supremacy.
Some of the other horses are aimed at Ascot Epsom, France. We will see if the new trends level the playing field somewhat.
Judging by his running style in winning he does not appear to have been let down fully as yet. The same of course can be said for all the others, I just feel there is more to come from Lucky Vega.

Agreed. Listed, G3 and G2 winner. Won a trial, thus proving fitness and having trained on. Unbeaten on G & G/F. He’s a good price.

The key race is probably the national stakes and having watched the race Wembley was very unlucky in that. It will come down to who stays the mile best and that I feel will be Wembley. Poetic flare as the ew bet.

It’s very unoriginal, but Thunder Moon at 9-2 is my bet.

If there is a star in the line up then it,ll be thunder moon but the betting tells us it’s wide open , I to like poetic flare , pretty unexposed and will def get the trip , with 4 places I’ve also played naval crown , there,s been plenty silly priced horses get in the frame

Not very original, but I very much fancy Thunder Moon too. He potentially
could be very smart. I’ve also had a few quid on Devilwala. I’m not kidding
myself that he’s a likely winner, but he was a neck behind Thunder Moon (3rd & 4th) in the
Dewhurst and he ran a decent race from the front and was hauled in by Master Of The Seas in
the final furlong. He’d been off for 160 days so possibly not fully fit and should come on. I
reckon he has a squeak at a big price.

    Thunder Moon 5/1

    Devilwala 125/1 4 places Bet365 and 100/1 5 places Skybet

I’ve gone for a Frankie ew 75-1 double of Battleground and Mother Earth for an interest. Good luck all.

Chindit & One Ruler e/w, and RFC. Loath to leave the Shadwell son of Ghanaati out, but he has gone too short for me and I don’t like the way he is going down either. GL all.

Plenty of late money for Battleground seemingly. Ominous.

Front three went nicely clear. A few shockers in behind to say the least. Bolger presumably staring at his blower waiting for Sheik Mo to call.
