If that were the case with RVW having suffered this injury would Mastercraftsman not have been backed of the boards by the lads in the yard and their contacts by now? Think about it!!!
If you have backed him you better start praying now RVW doesn’t make the race.
April 30, 2009 at 01:11 #224443Lots of assumptions on here – Ballydoyles 3yo pecking order is rarely any more than educated guesswork. There is no certainty as to Coolmores Nr 1 – i’d forget jockey bookings, market moves, stable noises and concentrate on the formbook.
Unfortunately that appears just as impossible. I’ll side with Delegator is he runs, classy sort who has proved he handles the course, proved he has trained on (improved even perhaps), and is race fit.
April 30, 2009 at 04:00 #224476I’m not drawn to either Ballydoyle horse this time.
RVW’s 2YO form is largely inconclusive and I’m of the opinion (regardless of the Group 1s) Mastercraftsman’s form is sketchy for the price they’re offering here.
Nothing’s leapt off the screen, so I’m leaving the race alone.
April 30, 2009 at 11:30 #224495I am interested to know if those who put up Crowded House as their initial fancy for the race would still side with him were he entered ?

April 30, 2009 at 13:00 #224506I’d still have went with CH mate.

Cheers! But I doubt if he is out of the woods yet.
What I would like to know is did the horse work this morning? How was he afterwards?.
If we are being told the truth he couldn’t possible have worked since Sunday was it? and you wouldn’t want to be working him on a Frdiay if he is running on Saturday
Therefore we must take it he worked this morning and even if he pulled up ok the foot could easily flare up in the afternoon/evening and that would be the end of it.
Sounds a bit premature to me to be telling punters he runs for sure.

That’s avery difficult question "H" if he was 1/2 fav I would say yes if he was 20/1 I would say no.
I would say however I think Crowded House will turn out to be Delegator’s superior in the long run
April 30, 2009 at 15:35 #224541Why no Intense Focus – I haven’t heard anything as to why he wasn’t declared.

I have no idea but I did read something a couple of days ago where Bolger said he thought his other horse had a good chance of getting a place. There was no mention of Intense Focus which struck me as odd.
April 30, 2009 at 18:31 #224584These are the figures for the supplementary entry Ouqba, in regards to what I wrote a couple of pages back:
Ouqba Red Ransom 8.8 [/color:1jvd1d45] Machiavellian 9.1 [/color:1jvd1d45]
17.9
So, the only three final qualifiers are Delegator, Rip Van Winkle and Gan Amhras.
That makes it quite easy for my exotic bet – I’ll just put them in a combination Forecast and a combination Trifecta.
By the way, when someone in racing uses a statistic such as "19 out of the last 21" it usually means that the one 22 occasions ago didn’t comply, so it is really 19 out of 22, or perhaps 23 or more. In this case though it just means 19 out of the last 21, as that is as far back as the Racing Post online database goes.
If I don’t come up with an angle for the 1,000 Guineas, I’ll have to resort to studying the form in order to work out the second.

Me definitely!
Since his Racing Post Trophy win, I waited with eager anticipation to see Crowded House run in the 2000 and now I’m gutted that he’s out of it. Personally, I think Mr Meehan has dropped a right bollock by leaving him out.
April 30, 2009 at 19:43 #224606Good old Jim Bolger – the punters pal.
April 30, 2009 at 19:50 #224607Nick Mordin used to have a good system for the Guineas. Something along the lines of backing horses described as "nice horse" in the Official Formbook.
What did he put up in the Weekender
April 30, 2009 at 20:03 #224614Raceform paddock comments have declined, so Mordin has decided himself whether they are a good sort or a nice colt.
2000 Guineas
Delegator
MastercraftsmanKentucky Derby
Friesan Fire
Desert Partyedit: Sorry, Finjaan and Rip Van Winkle are also good sorts, but Mordin has chucked them out because Finjaan is built like a sprinter and Rip Van Winkle like a 12f horse.

Even at the expense of Rip Van Winkle, Fist ?
