Lots of horses on the upgrade entered here but the biggest eye catcher has to be the Gosden trainer Frankel colt Without Parole, demolished his field on season reappearance and is now 2-2 having been odds on for both his starts, quotes of around 7-1 for the St James Palace Stakes show the high regard that this fellow is thought under.
May 22, 2018 at 12:40 #1354620Just looked at the betting, WP opened 6/4 and now Evens which is a bit short for me, i’ve followed Vintager since the debut and last time out ran well giving weight to a horse that ran well at York recently despite pulling awfully hard so i’m on at 10/1.
May 22, 2018 at 13:38 #1354629It’s shortened because of the non runners, Stephenson’s rocket is one I think is a decent price but tbh I can’t see past the favourite!
May 22, 2018 at 14:03 #1354631Just noticed ITV4 are there that night, hmm not noticed them doing the evening racing before.
May 22, 2018 at 14:30 #1354635They haven’t and that particular race meeting (the best evening meeting all round) has never been televised on a terrestial channel.
May 22, 2018 at 15:37 #1354638Very good, i just hope my main man, Matt the Chap is there to give us a great evenings entertainment, like marmite but i just love his style, just a shame he supports Tottingham.
May 22, 2018 at 16:12 #1354642I think Chapman is great.
I was on Without Parole NRNB for the Guineas. I can see him being the Champion UK 3 year old miler this season.
May 22, 2018 at 17:15 #1354647I agree big fan of Matt chapman he cracks me up, I think the problem people have with him is that they take him too seriously, he plays the part of the court jester and he knows what hes doing, from all accounts he’s a very respectful person when it comes down to it, will try and get a selfie with him!!
May 22, 2018 at 19:15 #1354651I have often made the comment on this forum that Chappers is like Marmite – if you don’t take him too seriously he is often amusing and runs rings around Nevison on RUK when he is in the betting ring, I also like it when he is presenting the Sunday Forum on ATR.
In some ways he is an updated version of Big Mac when he was on ITV/C4 back in the day just not as overbearing – bosses probably think he is more likely to appeal to the younger demographic there are trying to get into racing.
May 23, 2018 at 08:10 #1354702Looking through the race again I just can’t get past the favourite, looked an absolute beast of a horse in both his outings and has a serious engine to power him to the line, something that will show him in his own class at this track.
May 23, 2018 at 10:47 #1354716Will be interesting to see how Without Parole takes to going around a bend as he has only raced over a straight mile courses to date – think the other Frankel colt Silver Quartz could also run a big race, maybe a 1-2.
Hopefully, Dream Today (who has made the running in the past) will make it a decent pace even though it is his first run of the season as the last thing you want is a crawl and then a 2F burn up – the only other option for pace might be Regal Reality who made all on his debut but that was a maiden race.
With a lot of the colts in the mile division moving up in trip (although Elarqam runs in the Irish Guineas I still think his future is going to be over further), there is an opportunity for someone to stake their claim for top 3 yr old mile honours and Without Parole looks the type that could potentially fill that role. Looking forward to seeing him hopefully strut his stuff tomorrow.
May 23, 2018 at 11:16 #1354719I agree mate he definitely has the potential to be the top 3yo 1m horse, may even be worth tying to get a bet on him for the Sussex, I wouldn’t be too concerned about the bend at Sandown as though it is fairly tight the home straight is 4f and uphill so even if he does struggle with the bend (which I don’t think he will) he’ll have more than enough time to sort himself out, he’s down to 1.84 on the exchange for this but still 10/11 with some books though I expect them to shorten him at some point today.
May 23, 2018 at 20:07 #1354793I shall be in attendance tomorrow night for the 3rd time in 4 years and can’t remember ever seeing just a quality renewal of this race.
I’ve had an each-way bet on Stephensons Rocket at 11/1. I feel he’s much better than what we saw at Newmarket and should relish conditions.
May 23, 2018 at 21:30 #1354797Stephenson’s Rocket travelled very well FTO this season up until the last 1.5F of the 10F trip. Still undecided if he got tired or didn’t stay but I like the drop back to 8F here either way.
Without Parole could be a tool but at 11s he’s a fair e/w price.May 24, 2018 at 01:53 #1354816As a Without Parole fan (hence the bet for the Guineas NRNB), i played him on the early prices for this.
Into 4/6 now, I really expect a big run from him and to absolutely destroy this field.
I’d be very disappointed if he isn’t the market favourite for the St James’ Palace after this race.
May 24, 2018 at 10:36 #1354826Anyone worried about the prospect of slower ground for Without Parole?
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
May 24, 2018 at 11:11 #1354830what looked a shoe in for the Gosden inmate,as Joni rightly points out there are doubts now,for me you can not play at odds of around 8/11- 4/6.
If they have had the rain we have had(Essex) it will not be on the fast side.
I will probably have two small interests EW (as Without Parole could still dot up) on Stephensons Rocket and Gabr.GL but keep an eye on the weather
