Joni I live and work a couple of miles from the track, it rained pretty heavily in the night but the recent sun over the last week or 2 and the fact that it hasn’t rained again since last night means it’ll be good ground at worst I would say. Frankel horse to pishhhhhh upppppp come on the Frankel!!!!!
May 24, 2018 at 12:19 #1354847ben according to Andrew cooper they had another 1.5 mm on top of the ten over night.
But if you live there i would rather believe youMay 24, 2018 at 14:25 #1354858To be fair mate stats don’t lie lol, I fell asleep at 2am and was up at 5am for work and hadn’t noticed any rain by the time I fell asleep, it rained while I was sleeping obviously and I woke up to some puddles on the roads but nothing too crazy, I mean it might have absolutely tipped it down like there’s no tomorrow and I haven’t noticed – what’d add to that is the fact that it’s been cloudy today with no sun so the rain won’t have dried up like it otherwise would have. I’d still be confident it’ll be good ground regardless of the official going.
May 24, 2018 at 19:11 #1354879well done winners, no damage done here with Gabr running into a place
May 24, 2018 at 19:14 #1354880John Gosden saying SJP next and he will be a lot better on summer ground
May 24, 2018 at 19:21 #1354882I think you’ll find that was a lot more impressive than it looked. He was never going to be at home on that ground. It will take a good one to beat him in the SJP.
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
May 24, 2018 at 19:27 #1354885Gosden also made a point of the horse needing the experience of another run (here) before the SJP. After the setback he was struggling to fit another race in to him before Ascot. ie Without Parole may not have been 100% fit for today. Will do better at Ascot.
Value Is EverythingMay 24, 2018 at 20:38 #1354902Advised and took 12/1 for the St James Palace.
One of these days I might actually get a winner, but on balance it probably won’t happen.
I reckon 3/1 is too skinny now.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 25, 2018 at 00:02 #1354919Official going was Good (Good To Soft in places) but with the exception of Magic Circle nothing really finished up the hill but of those races on the round course WP’s time was by far the fastest and almost 2sec quicker than the Whitsun Cup.
The fact they avoided the rail in all races and raced up the middle of the course would indicate it was not good ground – walking back across the course after racing, you could see just how much of a print they were making.
To me he looked very well in the paddock (not sure how to get my pics of him uploaded to show you all) but for those underwhelmed by the performance it may actually turn out a bit better than we think considering the following comments by Gosden:
“We were a little bit behind coming into this,” said Gosden. “But if we were going to Ascot we had to run him. He missed a lot of work as a result of his foot and we were coming here off only two pieces of work.”
