Glad – if memory serves Lanfranco was his only runner in the race and he had won the G1 William Hill Futurity at Doncaster as a 2 yr old.

He finshed 7th in that 2000g before going on to win the Predominate Stakes at Goodwood before finsihing 5th to Slip Anchor (under Cash Asmussen) in the Derby before winning King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot. He then was odds on but finished 3rd in the Princess of Wales’s Stakes to Petoski (who went on to win the King George beating Oh So Sharp). His final run was when finishing 3rd to Oh So Sharp in the St Leger and he ended with a Timeform rating of 123.

Desert Flower looked a million dollars in the paddock this afternoon deciding between herself and Lake Victoria was made easy.

I’ve always been fond of Will because he looks a lot like my son. I’ve never seen him so happy and animated!

The happiest I’ve ever seen him too Moe in fact There was a real feel good factor about the day amongst the crowd, much more than on 2000 Guineas day. It draws more families in and not so much emphasis on the booze.
