LV ran as I feared she would – writing was on the wall a very long way out and she has done well to finish as close as she did as she was clearly not fit enough. A bit of a bunched finish though.

A rather tame way for LV to lose her unbeaten record.

Three horses in this race had a 9 out of 10 on my “trainer form”.
Appleby’s Desert Flower and Sangster’s Flight and Simmering.

    Should have had the 1 – 2 – 3.

Anyone know if Fred Done is paying out the 2 mill bonus on a fillies Triple Crown ? Because this filly can be another Oh So Sharp i’m telling you.

Doubt she’d be good enough to beat a rival of Triptych’s calibre by six lengths more-or-less on the bridle, but I can see what you mean, BHL.

I’ve been a big critic of Buick in the past but he’s been riding magnificently this season. The best I’ve ever seen from him.

Winner was very impressive but Lake Victoria is the one I take from the race considering how abysmal O’Brien is at getting horses fit without prep runs.

Trains out of the world class Ballydoyle yet can’t even get a horse fit for the Guineas this past few seasons.

I backed the winner but I’m still pissed at O’Brien.

tbh I don’t think Desert Flower needed to be at her 2 year old best in order to win today. imo The form just isn’t that good… But that’s not to say she isn’t capable of running at least to her two year old form or even better.

Of course it’s a bit disappointing when you spot a good AOB one for antepost purposes and they end up playing the long game rather than get properly fit for the Guineas.

Winner has no chance of staying the St Leger trip, I would question if she will even stay 12F as 10F looks like it could be her limit.

Speaking of the Triple Crown, it has always been a bit of a bug bear of mine when people talk about it not being won since Nijinsky in 1970, Oh So Sharp gets nowhere near the love or recognition for what she did (nobody treated Triptych the way Oh So Sharp did in that Oaks over 12f on Triptych’s preferred soft ground) and the training feat that Sir Heny did that year in winning four of the five Classics was outstanding.

Being this year is the 40th anniversary of her Triple Crown win, it really should be celebrated at some point during the season.

“winning four of the five Classics”

The fact he didn’t have a proper 2,000 Guineas horse that year still grates.

Am sure they “tried” to get Lake Vic’ fit and ready. Only needed to run to form in order to win today. But she isn’t the only one. At least Expanded made it to the Guineas, but both Twain and The Lion In Winter missed the race. No Bedtime either. Fairy Godmother was – so they said – their main hope at one point too. Rushing horses rarely works, but when looking at a long run of successes a while back – I agree there must be something they are not doing nowadays. It’s not just the Classic horses either; a hell of a lot of their horses are needing a run.

    I agree about the 12f and 14f.

Terrible camera angles from ITV at one point it looked like Flight had tanked through to lead when in fact she hadn’t.

The more I know the less I understand.
